So we have been talking for a couple of weeks now about what if we really believed in the sovereignty of the self. Sovereignty means absolute authority, not power beyond it, nothing able to disturb it and what if we really believed in the sovereign authority of the I AM that I AM. What if we really believed the truth of who and what I am could in fact bring me freedom?
The great metaphysician from the last century Ernest Holmes in his declaration of principals he says the ultimate goal of life is complete emancipation from all discord of every nature. To be absolutely free of any thing that causes your vibration to go down.
We say your vibration going up do you recognize when your vibration is up and people often say I don’t know what you mean by having good vibrations? You know when you feel good, you know when your bringing a positive energy with you, you know when your creating what you mean and you also know when your not. You also know when your participating in your fears doubts and worries and you can also instantaneously feel how that constricts your energy and so what we say is the ultimate goal of life is complete emancipation from all discord, from anything that could happen in your physical reality, in the space of your being that would cause you to vibrate low instead of high. Meaning that we can keep our thoughts and words and attitudes vibrating at a high place and the more that we do that the equivalent of thoughts words and feelings vibrating at a high place is an experience of life that is vibrating at a high place.
We talk about and we celebrate often mystics and we call a mystic a soul that has ascended male or female makes no difference, a soul that has ascended to the place of fully realizing who and what they are. We would say a Mother Theresa manifests herself as a mystic. We would say that a Martin Luther King manifest himself as a mystic, we would say the living reality of a Nelson Mandela has manifested himself into a mystical space. We recognize that souls have the authority to step into mysticism and yet mysticism has a word that is entwined in it. It is mystery and we say what is that soul, what is that thing that attracts me to that soul, it is their willingness to live in the mystery although for them its coming from a faith, it is coming from a deep seated faith they are revealing the mystery of the glory of god. The mystery of the glory of god and you see we have seen the glory of god in the sunrises and sunsets. We have seen the glory of god in the moments of birth, we have seen the glory of god in the face of a baby, we have seen the glory of god in the golden retriever, as least I have. And yet we say we go away from that because something in our experience pulls us down and the truth is that we would love to get our consciousness vibrating at such a level, at such a place that were vibrating so high that were looking forward to the great glory of god being revealed in its mysterious and magnificent ways today.
In other words getting to a place of an exalted level of consciousness doesn’t tell you how things are going to unfold. It tells you the tone of how they will unfold. They will unfold in the love the joy the wisdom the peace the grace the magnificence in god when your consciousness lives there all experiences will unfold from that. But I love the idea of this holy law which receives the impress of our consciousness and acts upon it and the holy law is always creating out of an infinite field of possibilities and so consequently the holy law is going to bring to you something greater than you imagined. The god that you love when you live in tune with that love will always bring you something greater than you imagine. So because it is the natural tendency of the law to multiply but when we have to get our faith so high can you imagine when Jesus the great way shower when he went to his friend Lazarus and he said I know my god you hear me now and you hear me always but this job is a little tuff Lazarus come forth. You see the moment we say this job is a little tuff what we really say is but I don’t really believe this and now it cannot happen that way. Well I know unexpected good to come to me from an unexpected place but I don’t really believe that and consequently it doesn’t. Or I do know unexpected good can come from an unexpected place and I’m in Australia, an unexpected experience as a matter of fact in that story the plan was Italy so what do you say when Australia shows up Italy for money Australia free, which would you choose? And there is no right or wrong it’s which one would you choose? Oh I said I will take Australia now did we wipe Italy out, is Italy gone as a field of possibility. Is the potential for great joy in Italy still there all that shifted because of the mystery was the great joy of Australia is going to reveal itself first if you say yes to that. But our consciousness has to be willing to say yes to overflow and we say oh I don’t know what overflow is I have always lived from under overflow. So again I have told you the story and it happened again last night because spirit is wanting me to see something, spirit is wanting me to see something and so it is happening in an extraordinary blatant way, what is overflowing good? It means more good than you can actually use it doesn’t mean that you don’t want that much good in your experience you want overflowing good in your experience because if you can’t use it your brother or sister can use it and it will work out just fine.
So last night we go to the mall and we have done this before. Saturday night in the mall the mall is crowded with people parking blocks away from the mall. They are going to the mall but they are parking blocks away from the mall why they know it is Saturday night and the mall is crowded. So there expectation is their good will not be there for them in terms of parking at the mall. Well I don’t do that my personal practice is to go towards the front door of where I am going. I went to the front door in the mall and I noticed the mall was very crowded. I noticed people lined up at the movie so I dropped my wife and daughter off at the front but my daughter decided she did not want to get out so she said she would go with me. So we pulled in the front row by the front door of the restaurant and people were walking towards their car well I will wait and take that space. My good has been made manifest right? While I am sitting there waiting for the space five spaces open up all around me and I turned to my daughter and I said see that is what overflowing good I can’t use that many spaces but the good news my brothers and sisters can. Overflowing good means more than you can use and what if we came into the place where I am what God is and could you imagine that God is short of some kind of overflowing good? God is overflowing good, gods very reality is overflowing good. God loves itself so much that it birthed itself into its own creation so that it could experience its overflowing good, in its own creation.
But it creates its creation free in its image and likeness and says you choose and we choose lack and limitation.
You see we can make a statement we can make a declarative statement about what we believe. We believe in the omnipresence good of god. We believe in the overflowing abundance of god. We believe in the joy of god, we believe in the love of god. We can make these declarations but making a declaration and having faith in a principal is not the same thing. Making a statement about a principal and having faith in the principal is not the same thing. And so we have to make a choice to recognize that if I’m going to live in a spiritual universe and we accept that we live in a spiritual universe and the spiritual universe responds to me by corresponding to me, that’s the principal. The spiritual universe responds to me by corresponding to me and yet if we say that god is all love, all joy, all wisdom, all peace, all freedom, all grace, all magnificence, all love and were not experiencing that do you see that we have a belief that were not practing the principal of. And so we then have to become conscious if we want to wake up and we have to choose to practice a principal. And to practice a principal and for those of you who saw the movie the secret to practice the principal is a lot more than getting a treasure map and wishing for your good, have you noticed?
I thought that all I had to do was think it and I would have it, well no because we live in a universe that responds to everything I think say feel and here is the big one and do. So spiritual action becomes the way by which we make our word real and here is what Ernest Holmes says. Meditation is for the purpose of inbreathing the essence of reality.
We take a few moments to inbreathe to become aware of the essence of reality and that is what meditation is and of course we recommend that you meditate for 15 minutes or longer at least a day because were inbreathing reality. You say I don’t know how to do 15 minutes well you can do a few moments as you did it here so just stretch your few moments till your getting closer to a space of inbreathing the essence of reality.
On the other hand Dr. Holmes says spiritual mind treatment is for the purpose of using this essence in definite and constructive ways. So you see we have been lead to not only that we understand its a spiritual reality, not only are we lead to understand that we need to inbreathe this spiritual reality and why do you need to ? If you noticed that your thoughts and fears are bothering you, if they are constricting your vibration and you’re not vibrating at your highest level then you need to make an adjustment. You have to take an action to shift. Ok I am determined to learn how to inbreathe better. If you want to take a spiritual action to move this essence into reality we talk about affirmative prayer or spiritual mind treatment. We say you can pray for the things that you would like in your life, you can set those causes into motion but then your going to have to adjust, you are going to have to make room to receive at a higher level. You see if you continue to do what you have always done you will continue to get what you have always got. And we have to shift and shift can only be determined by a new action. It has to be a new action even if your new action is a new commitment to sit down and meditate but then you have to make the action of sitting down. If your new action is to form new goals dreams and desires and speak affirmative prayers about those new goals dreams and desires well you have to take the action to do that. If we wish to experience a larger degree of living as Dr. Holmes says our goal of acceptance must be held up so that the outpouring of spirit may be measured into our individual lives. We have to hold up the bowl of acceptance and create that expectation of a greater good. We have to hold up that bowl of acceptance and make bigger room for it in our lives and if you start the day without prayer and meditation and you start the day with the today show your starting the day with the headlines not a bigger bowl. If you start the day with your newspaper instead of prayer and meditation you start the day with the headlines instead of a bigger bowl. If you start the day on the computer you start the day with the content of your computer instead of a bigger bowl.
We must decide if we want more room we have to take make room for it. I love the expression from James Dobb he says I will love my good, I will love my good and take possession of it and live in the fulfillment of heavenly abundance. I will love my good and take possession of it that is between me and god. I will take possession of my good and I will live in heavenly abundance and thus will I glorify god by my living. Can you imagine the real purpose of your life is to glorify god. Note to self the real purpose of my life is not to survive my struggles. The purpose of my life is to glorify god by the glory of my life, by the glory of my life. So when I am seeking greater health, greater wealth, greater love to be more on track more in purpose I am seeking that not just for myself but to glorify the life that I have been given because I have been given the life the only thing your suppose to do with the life that you have been given is to give it back, that’s it? What am I suppose to do with this thing, I am what God is, God is what I am and all that I’m suppose to do with the I am that I am is to give it back to god and if I give it back to god, god will use me as the avenue through which god is glorified.
If I give my life back to god, god will use me as the avenue through which God is glorified. And here is the news through which god is glorified as “me”. I’m the place where God is going to be glorified, as me. You think of all the best people, all the best moments in history, all the good things that has every happened about any history that you know and do you not see that God is glorified by Michael Angelo, do you not see that god is glorified by a Martin Luther King, do you not see that God is glorified by the ones who will stand in the truth. God is being glorified right now by the souls like Michael Beckwith who will stand out there and say God is all there is and I am that. It is not just a past reality it is a future reality, it’s a right now reality.
God is being glorified by me right now to the degree that I am accepting, making room to receive at a higher level. You cannot change your environment; you cannot change your environment while leaving your mind unchanged. It is just a principle, if you want something in your world to change, you will have to change and there is no such thing as having that change without you in it. If you want something to change you will have to change so unless you are willing to cultivate and this is what Emmet Fox says unless you are determined to cultivate a good disposition you may as well give up any hope of getting anything worthwhile out of life. Think about it now wait a minute I’m not trying to create a good disposition but I just want more money? I just want more love, I am not trying to create a good disposition I just want more stuff, and do you see that none of that will do you any good? Because the stuff will come and the stuff will go but your disposition will remain the same and according to the sum total of your consciousness so shall it be. So people say well god Harry you wake up happy and yes I wake up happy after praying for a half an hour to make sure that I’m happy because any other choice doesn’t make any sense. Any other choice is to carry into the world my suffering, my sadness, my fears, my guilt’s, my doubts and if I carry that into the world what will be magnified today? Whatever you carry into the world will be magnified by god today. Let me say that again whatever you carry into the world whether it’s your highest elations or your deepest fears, whatever you carry into the world today will be magnified by god today, that’s how it works.
So when we start recognizing well the change that I am seeking is not only a change in my outer world but a change in me. A change in me that allows me to be optimistic about the god that creates for me. That allows me to have the faith to know that Gods creative process is working in me now, a faith that allows me to understand God and I together constitute a majority and things of the world do not move me.
I have to constantly work on changing my disposition so here is what Emmet Fox says is the golden key and since this is the first of November the month of thanksgiving I would like to give you the golden key. Stop thinking about your difficulties, golden key stop thinking about your difficulty, whatever it is think about God instead. That is it and I gave you a golden key today is stop thinking about your difficultly and start thinking about god instead, that is all. Everything your difficulty comes up, stop and think about god again and if your difficulty comes back again, think about god some more. Where ever there is difficulty stop and think about god.
You see the world of the law the realm of the law is working in you and as you and through you all the time and what Ernest Holmes invites us to remember and Ernest only as the representative of the I AM just as Jesus was the representative of the I AM, just as every saint, sage mystic and prophet has been a representative of the I AM and people say why do we always touch ourselves and say I AM? I often get people who say I don’t get this I AM god stuff, why do I keep touching myself and say I AM and I will help you clarify that today. It says in the Old Testament before Abraham the Aramaic traditions started with one person, Abraham and out of the Aramaic traditions came Judaism, Christianity, Mohammadism, all of that the Muslim traditions all came out of Abraham. Abraham was the soul who announced there is one god. Remember the Greeks had a lot of gods, the Romans had a lot of gods and there were lots of different gods and Abraham came along and said behold the god is one god and here is what god had to say about what Abraham said. Abraham said before Abraham was I am. So lets think that through Abraham says God is one and god as one says before Abraham ever said god is one, I AM and do you know that god is understood by many different levels and many different religions throughout time and to this day on the planet we are living on god is understood in many different levels in many different ways throughout time, but I am is the highest name for god. It is bigger than any other god we have ever named so when we touch ourselves and say I AM your announcing not only god the biggest god that humanity has ever known or could ever know your announcing yourself as one with that god. I am the only living thing here and I am the only way through the self of yourself is the only way you will know god and it is the only way that you will know life, through yourself. I am the way so when Ernest Holmes says will you realize I AM the holy trinity meaning I am spirit, I am soul, and I am body meaning I am conscious, I am that which receives consciousness and I am that which is creative. I am the light of god the love of god the law of god the truth of god and all of it is happening in me. I am that and so when we then recognize that what the bibles’ throughout time have been trying to tell you is when you trust in the holy name of god, when you trust in the holy reality of god you are trusting in the law of god and it is the law of god i.e. the mind of god where your good is being made right now. Your good is being made in the law of god and in the mind of god right now by means of what you’re putting your attention on. You are creating your own law by means of where you put your attention. So we are asking, we are seeking to understand at a deeper level do you not know that the law is perfect and the law has not missed a beat and it has received everything you have ever given it and have you given the law and this is the question each of us need to ask in our own hearts and souls, have you given the law a greater good than you have received? And many of us struggle with that because we feel like we have. We have given our love, we have given our light, we have shared our truth, we showed up and done the right thing and the good news is the law has not lost track of anything. In the bible it says the land the lord cares for is the land of the law, the law of god is constantly carrying for the land of your own law. The land of everything that you have created and its held there perfectly groomed by god on high waiting for you to receive the good that you have already booked and when we trust in that law we can begin to trust it to show up and we can begin to get our blotted nothingness out of the way. We can begin to trust that this divine law of compensation is willing to give you five parking places even if you only need one. It is willing to give you millions if you only need one. It is willing to give you however much because every good that you can’t use your brother and sisters can use and nothing get lost and it all comes back but you have to open yourself to receive it.
If you will love the god with all your heart and all your soul the land of the lord will take care of you in your seasons. In other words everything has a rhythm, a season.
The good is always there but we may not always see it. Our good is always there it is just that we may not always see it. We have not always been willing to receive it, we have not always been willing to use the golden key, stop thinking about your problems and start thinking about god.
And you take any problem that you have whether its taxes or whether its your fear about the elections and you take any problem that you have and you start thinking about god and all of a sudden you will feel better, you will feel better and even if you start describing to god what you have known so far. Well what about this god that is willing to pour out its blessing to you to continue everything in its season, can you trust the seasons and let go and let god and trust the seasons.
They have this big fear about global warming but do you have the faith that the rain will come because the rain will come. Everything in its season, everything that we need will come to us when were ready.
So this thing that we are looking for is this birth of a new time, a new potential and it is not a president that is going to make it happen, it is not a national election that is going to make it happen its you that will make it happen.
When you begin to realize that you have a choice to move in the direction of your dreams and moving in the direction of your dreams is spiritual action. Anything that you can do that will move you in the direction of your dreams is spiritual action. Now wait a minute isn’t that any action no because most people have not taken time to figure out what they mean. Most people don’t know what they mean by health, most people don’t know what they mean by wealth, most people don’t know what they mean by a life in purpose, but you can and you are because you are the beloved and you’re waking up to who you are. And when you begin to say my life is radiant health and is a gift to humanity and radiant health means I can express the way I choose to move in the world and my gift as wealth means that my good outpours from me so that I not only tithe to my spiritual center but I give to the world and my good still overflows.
You create what you mean by your vision and then do anything you can to move in that direction. And if you can’t do anything except to pray then that is yours to do that is your spiritual action. There is nothing in the physical world for me to do then I will pray and I will move from potential from the presence of god into the action of god because my prayer is an action forward. My prayer is calling forth what I mean in god. So the essence of everything that we are talking about today is your love is the way through which you can take possession of your good. And when you begin to love your vision of yourself, your version of yourself the one your creating of yourself, when you begin to love that self so much you cannot but help but attract an overflowing good if you wish to experience a larger degree of livingness our bowl of acceptance must be held up so that the outpouring of spirit may be measured into our lives.
I will take possession of my good and I will live in the fulfillment of heavenly abundance and that means everywhere that I am my community, my friends, my associations, every group that I go to support or help, I will live and take possession of heavenly abundance and in that way I will glorify god and that choice my friends is up to each one of us. And if we say I need greater guidance in order to claim my abundance then pray for the guidance because guidance is yours. If you don’t think you have guidance it’s because you don’t believe you can have guidance so pray for your guidance and you will know what is yours to do because it will match your vision and your version of your own goals, dreams and desires.
We stop thinking about everything that is not what we want and we start thinking about what we do want and we start thinking about god in relationship to everything we need. Yogananda had it right Paramahansa Yogananda from the last century he had it right. We should read a little, we should meditate more and we should think about god all the time. We should think about god all the time and when we think about god all the time and know how much god loves me then you can live the life you have imagined. That life is waiting for you it’s knocking on the door and it’s only waiting for your yes and your willingness to act in the direction of your own dreams. So my friends you have learned enough, you have heard enough, you have supported enough, it is now time to jump all the way in and give yourself all the way back to god. In that way the circuits are complete and behold the kingdom of heaven is at hand. My friends it is my honor and privilege to be with you this morning and I invite you to think on these things and together let us explore the possibilities.
