Wholeness"

Well it is the first Sunday of the New Year and we have been
planting the seed we have been holding the idea that everything’s
great in 08. So what has happened to me as we are coming to this
year is I began to look at what happens for me and I have been doing
this work in terms of studying the principals in this book since
1976. In fact I bought his book and it doesn’t come in this color
because my then golden retriever my best friend for years decided to
chew up the book and this book still has Moses sacred teeth marks in
it. Mighty mellow mose is the name of my golden retriever. So if you
put Harry Morgan Moses and mighty mellow mose you have “hum”. If you
put Harry Morgan Moses and Mighty mellow mose and Mary Manin
Morrissey together it really gets wild. So I began to really think
about when is it in your life, when is it in your spiritual journey,
see we understand the context and the context is very important and
in fact everywhere we are going in the next four weeks is to invite
you to explore what it is to work with the Science of Mind in
context.
So let’s go back before we talk about the Science of Mind let us
talk about when was it in your life when something dramatic happened
in your spiritual journey? Because every human journey is a
spiritual journey because we are spiritual beings, having a human
experience. Wayne Dyer is often credited for that line however
Ernest Holmes wrote it in 1922 and Wayne wasn’t born yet. So we love
the fact that the truth is omnipresent, that everyone can share
truth and anyone can be a revealer of truth who lives within close
contact with the indwelling God So we honor truth wherever it is
from every context from which it emerges. But what we find is if we
look at our lives in our spiritual journey somewhere in that journey
we were exposed to the teaching. You are exposed to the teaching.
Some people may have been exposed to the teaching by means of Ernest
Holmes and Ernest Holmes was a metaphysician who wrote books
beginning in the 1920’s and formed an organization beginning in the
1940’s which birthed forth some aspects of the new thought movement
as it exists today.
As I have shared with you many many times there is no dictionary
definition of the term religious science nor will you find the term
science of mind in a Standard English dictionary, you will not find
those terms. You will find in a standard English dictionary any
dictionary published after 1990 you will find the term new thought
as I have shared before God’s since of humor it follows the term new
testament. I didn’t do that I am just observing that. New thought is
defined as the modern spiritual philosophy stressing God in the
human being and the power of right thought to affect health and
circumstance. That is the definition as it is in the American
heritage dictionary.
So what we find in our lives if there was someplace where we came
into the teaching and the teaching is a very simple teaching, simple
in premise, not so simply in embodiment
I will pause and give you some wisdom from a reasonable well known
thinker from the last century a man named Albert Einstein. Albert
Einstein might remind us in a very simple phrase he says knowledge
information is not knowledge, information is not knowledge so what
we came into when we first came into the teaching, however it is
that you got there most of us got there dramatically, do you know
what I’m talking about? Most of us get there by desperation instead
of by inspiration If you happened to be one of the blessed souls who
grow up in an inspiring environment and knew that you were a
spiritual being and were supported in that belief then yea, for you
and inspiration is definitely a path in, but most of us got there
some other way. Most of us got there because our life, we hit
someplace and we needed the answers and in hitting that place we
were exposed to the teachings and the teaching is one god, one
power, one presence finds itself centered everywhere and is
announced and proclaimed when we say I AM. One presence and I AM
that presence One God one life everywhere present equally
distributed and if there is only one God and one life everywhere
present and equally distributed where am I? Logic information says I
must be that if there is only one and I find myself in it and I can
announce it, I can actually claim I AM. Touch yourself and say I AM
see no argument, yes I am, I AM not we want to get to the next thing
and please let me tell you my story. Because we are dragging our
story with us believing that our story is who we are, believing that
our name is who we are, believing that our troubles are who we are,
believing that our strife and struggles are who we are, believing in
something less than the wholeness of God and therefore experiencing
it . And then we are told ah the sum total of your belief creates
your experience, the sum total of your believe creates your
experience and then what emerges as we move into the teaching
deeper. One God, all are one, one presence, one life I am that and
then the principal is introduced to us. One god one presence and one
principal oh well the principal is called by many different names
the principal is called the law of karma, the principal is called
the law of cause and effect, the principal is called the law of
mind, the principal is called the law of “as”, as you give so shall
you receive, as you sew so shall you reap, as you think so shall you
become. The principal of “as” begins to be revealed and so we are
now taught the very simple reality of the teaching one power, one
presence, and one law.
Now if we were able to take that information and instantly embody it
as knowledge we would be free, you would be in the kingdom as it
actually is. However humanity given this law some thousands of years
ago decided that it was its own creation and it began to use the law
to create all kinds of laws, all kinds of delision ideas that cause
us to fall out of the synchronicity out of the harmony, out of the
joy of what it is to be alive as the one. So then we say there is a
science of mind, a science of this law and people get confused even
new thought people get confused because they believe that the
science of mind is a principal or philosophy that Ernest Holmes
founded. Yet through out all of Ernest Holmes writing you see this
tremendous reverence for the master teacher Jesus. You see this
tremendous reverence for the awakened Buddha consciousness, you see
this tremendous reverence for the poets for the saints for the
mystics through this one man’s consciousness he saw the oneness of
all of the genius in human condition and he wrote it down in the
book called Science of Mind. And then people believe oh I have the
new bible and I really can’t help it and then we go further and we
say ay yes the science of mind that I have it was closest to Ernest
and your science of mind is just not as close to Ernest as my
science of mind. Do you see what I am saying people say I am more
identified with Ernest Holmes and the Science of Mind therefore I
have the true science of mind, but no Ernest defined the science of
mind as the laws of science, the opinions and philosophies and the
revelations of religion applied to human need and the aspirations of
man. Let me say that again Ernest Holmes said the science of mind is
a correlation of the laws of science, the opinions of philosophy and
revelations of religion as applied to human needs and the
aspirations of man. Now do you think all of that could go into a
book? And the answer is no the Science of Mind in the broadest sense
of the Science of mind belongs to all people because every cosmic
law belongs to all people. The law of electricity does not care
whether you happen to be where my daughter is in Seoul Korea, the
law of electricity works the same as it does here. It works the same
for the Russians as it does for the Iraqis, its the same law. You
use the law the right way and it will work for you, you use it the
wrong way, it will work against you. It does not care if its
toasting your toast or toasting you in the oven, it doesn’t matter.
The law itself is neutral, classic its a law it belongs to all
people If we then say there are higher laws and i will remind you of
the quote from Henry David Thoreau and this is where we are going
for the course of the next four weeks, Henry David Thoreau reminds
us he says we will put some things behind, we will pass an invisible
boundary, new universal and more liberal laws will begin to
establish themselves within or around us or the old laws will be
expanded and interrupted in our favor to work in a more liberal
sense. In truth the human being will live with a license of a higher
order of being. And you begin to say well wait a minute how would
you like to live with a license , think of a license like a drivers
license means you are allowed to drive and it means if your inside
the laws of driving you can drive anywhere in this country if you
have a drivers license yes? Well a license to a higher order means
if you have a license you can use the license anywhere within the
law and you can have it any way that you want it because you are
licensed to live that way. You say well wait a minute energy is
shifting in such a way, energy is shifting in terms of the human
condition so I want to talk to you about the science of mind, not
Ernest Holmes’ science of mind but humanities science of mind that
belongs to all people every where present and can be used by anyone
who will elevate themselves to that level of being. And it will
operate for them with a license of a higher order of being. And
things that seem impossible and miraculous will then become self
evident. All depending on what?
So we talk about the science of mind these next four weeks are
science of mind for everything, meaning there is no part of your
life that the science of mind is not for. It is for everything so we
talk about everything as health, wealth, love and purpose, meaning
your souls being fulfilled. You can here in this lifetime to do
something, to become something to realize something to recognize
something, to know yourself as that something and to die in ecstasy
and bliss which is literally to be born into a new level of life in
ecstasy and bliss. And how would it go, how would it be for you to
go from ecstasy and bliss spiraling upward to deeper and higher
levels of ecstasy and bliss as that which you do from this moment on
for eternity And along the way you might be able to help a few
folks, would that be alright with you?
So I want to talk about wholeness today because health is a
reflection of wholeness like the word he long, health the old
English word comes from wholeness so we look again to a simple
prayer that many of us who came from the judo Christian background
have heard that the master teacher the Jewish prophet taught people
and the master teacher taught it in this way. He said our father who
art in heaven, and our mother who art the earth hallowed it be thy
name. Wholeness be thy name, wholeness so there is a law of mind
that is suppose to receive the impress of that wholeness and
recreate it in wholeness. So we know that the body, the body is born
in a pattern that matches your souls intent to everything thing that
you came to do understand and be, in this body you have the right
body designed perfectly for your expression and that body was born
in the image and likeness of wholeness and it is free to recreate
itself in that pattern no matter what you have done with it so far.
So wholeness is not about having to think yourself self into health,
wholeness is about knowing yourself as that perfect pattern and
given the freedom to that perfect law to operate that perfect
pattern in you. However the freedom is given by means of your
consciousness, what you are doing with your thinking, saying, and
doing in every moment. It’s always responding to what your thinking,
saying and doing in every moment, in every moment and so what we
have happen very often and I see it happen all the time is people
want to come and see me and I am grateful that I can be of service
but they want to come and see me but what they really want at the
level of their low self, not the high self, at the level of the low
self they really want me to say is your problems are really too big
for the law of mind. Everybody else’s situation and circumstances
can be healed by a deeper level of knowing but your problem is a
little deeper than that. Because I did not know all of the details
of your problem. And each one of us at the level of our small self
wants to argue for our pain and separation and our loneliness and
the only thing that is causing that is your mental equivalent. Oh
where did this word mental equivalent come from well I am glad that
you asked?
I want to share with you four different places out of the Science of
Mind and so that we can begin to see where that we want to go. Since
we are dealing with an infinite power which knows only its ability
to do and since it can objectify any idea impressed upon it there
can be no limit to what it can or would do for it, there can be no
limit its a principal, no limit to what it can and would do. They
built a city called Dhabi where is that new city where the woods
comes together there is more money than anywhere else in the world
and its in the middle of the desert in fact in one of those
buildings they built a ski slope inside the building in the desert,
so there is no limit to what it can do, a principal there is no
limit to what it can do. Limitation is not in the principal nor in
the law but only in the individual use we make of principal. Our
individual use of it can only equal our individual capacity to
understand it, to embody it. We cannot demonstrate beyond our
ability to provide a mental equivalent of our desire. As we bring
ourselves to a greater vision we educe a greater concept and there
by demonstrate more in our experience In this way there is a
continues growth and unfolding taking place . We do not expect to
give a treatment today for prosperity and have a million dollars
tomorrow See this isn’t magic this is grace this is magnificent,
this is glory, this is the gift already given of a perfect law that
you can unfold who and what you are and understand it and know it
because you get to experience it, because you were given the law to
experience. We can unfold our consciousness through the acquit ion
of a greater and still greater mental equivalent until at last we
shall be made free.
Here is a great line for you faith is mental assurtion elevated to
the plane of realization How then do we expand our mental equivalent
as we gain and meditate upon this indwelling god we shall acquire a
greater mental equivalent. As we daily meditate on this indwelling
god we shall establish a greater mental equivalent . As we daily
meditate on this indwelling God we shall establish a greater mental
equivalent
So here’s what’s happening I believe the energies in life are moving
human consciousness expanding, would we agree with that? Human
consciousness is expanding, we are beginning to feel the movement of
the light workers on the planet You begin to notice more and more
people begin to understand what you are talking about or are at
least resonated toward the idea that you begin to talk about, when
you talk about being positive, when you talk about being
affirmative, when you talk about what I meditate on or what I dwell
upon I create. People are beginning to respond in almost all walks
of life and so here is what we would love to have, we would love to
say ok there is a law and all you have to do is say this prayer and
the law will work for you. But it doesn’t work that way because it
is a field of probabilities constantly expanding, constantly
changing, constantly responding to itself. So the metholodigy of
which affirmations work you know we give you lots of affirmations we
had out cards, we give you lots of powerful statements and they keep
moving and changing and we go for a higher vision, why because the
movement of energy is moving in such a way that we need to be
current as we are advancing. It advances in us and then we need to
advance in the world. If first takes place on the inside a new
awareness then we need to bring it forth in the demonstration and
that changes everything and then we need a new awareness yet again.
So well some people say it is like my daughter who said well dad
when she was in kindergarden she gets carsick and I had to finally
teach her ok sit in the front, ok open the window and she finally
found the things that she could believe in and she no longer got car
sick anymore. When she finally found the things that she had the
mental equivalent of, is that making sense? You have to know what it
is that you mean by a life fulfilled, what doe you mean a life in
love, what do you mean by wealth and many of us are in the process
of changing that because our old ideas no longer serve, have you
noticed? Even your old ideas of fulfillment of success are no longer
working, everything is coming up new, everything is coming up new.
I went off to the mountains and the first time without our children
since they were born, one was in Korea and the other had to stay
here in town and so we had no children They week my wife and I
celebrate our twenty fifth anniversary and guess what we had a good
time at Christmas just the two of us. It is a little town in
telluride a few thousand people but at the holidays twenty or thirty
thousand more people than the town usually has in it so if your not
making plans in advance you can’t get dinner reservations, you can’t
get in because the whole town is sold out and of course we didn’t
make any of those reservations. And so we are riding through the
desert between Barsto and needles, about one hundred and fifty eight
miles of nothingness there is one gas station in between where they
charge forty cents more a gallon than at either end, so we did not
stop at that gas station. But we are in the middle of the desert and
it is the night of the Winter Solstice driving into the darkest
night of the year and it looks like we will make it to flagstaff we
should call Flagstaff and get a reservation. We called the hotel and
they said we only have one left and it is for you. I hung up and my
wife was driving and I said isn’t it interesting how the angels and
the archangels and all the higher dimensions of life will work for
you if you will just let them. Now mind you it is pitch black out
there there is nothing out there but desert, all you can see is
what’s in the headlights and all of a sudden there is a street sign
as we drive by and I saw it and it said Harry Moses, and I turned to
my wife and said did you see that? I saw that it said Moses and
that’s what I said and I am pretty sure it said Harry Moses anyway
we go on the trip, have a wonderful time and we have no reservations
but spirit goes before us everywhere, now here is the interesting
thing I said to myself I’m on vacation, I have been praying, and
working and doing my thing and I’m taken a break here now. I am
going to let go of my disciplines and I am going to have some fun,
and I am going to enjoy and see what God brings and God said no
Harry your going to meditate everyday, why because I don’t feel
right till I sat up and meditated and that is how I knew I was
suppose to meditate. It always submerges from the self, there is
only one power and I am that its’ always coming from yourself. It
looks like its coming from elsewhere but it emerges from you when
you see it. So I was meditating everyday and sure enough just like I
had said in the desert before us the angels and archangels brought
our friends together, brought the dinners together, got the
reservations, everything just worked and we were without kids so we
went through a different sort of space and we do ok with that too.
It all work everywhere and finally on the way back we did the same
thing and we are driving back through the desert and we had better
call and get a reservation, sure enough I saw a hotel and they said
this is a holiday Inn express but we have one room left and I said
we will take it. So we take the room and it all work well and the
next morning we are driving through the desert the street sign shows
up and the sign said the holy moses wash and we had been
experiencing this wash surrendering to the I AM and watching it work
in front of us time and time again and this is where I am going in
the Science of Mind for everyone.
You are born in the image and likeness of wholeness, what you are in
truth is the Christ, the Atman, the Buddha, the High Self realizing
yourself. Coming to discover aw yes I am that and that is why we
focus so much on meditating on the I AM because the I AM that God is
is the I AM that I AM and that is the only I AM i will ever be and
the only way I will know myself is by knowing who and what I AM. It
always comes back to the principal working within us. And what I
believe in this new year and when I say everything great in 08 did
you ever see a magician where the arms comes out waving as the whole
body gets hidden and the arm is out there waving and then through
this rubber slot the person slips out and is miraculously not cut up
and it is kind of like that. If were willing to live, really really
live from our spiritual self, if were really willing to live and
step into that its like popping out of that thing and discovering oh
wow I really am whole and all of a sudden we begin to notice not
only am I whole in my health but I am whole in the body of my
experience. Not only am I whole but the needs that I though were
going to overwhelm me I keep making it I keep unfolding it.
The other night I have a dream and in the dream i am on the deck of
a ship with my wife and there was a third party there and we were on
the bow of this big ship and the ship begins to turn around all of a
sudden a wave like the perfect storm wave is going to overwhelm this
big ship comes and here I was in this dream and saw the wave coming
and thought oh my God I have to get prepared to get frightened
because I’m going to wake up and the wave came over the boat and I
looked at my wife and she was dry and I was dry and everything was
ok and I thought wait a minute, what does that mean. It means that
no matter what’s coming at you now because in a world awakened do
you think everybody’s going to wake up at the same time? No they are
going to awaken the same way we all do, we start to go oh I like the
way that looks better than what this looks and we make a choice, we
begin to step in the direction that’s more full correct? In the
world awakened there is not going to be pain and suffering and
places where you can go and do violence and do all that stuff that
most everybody is not going to be doing that because the law will
remain the same according to your consciousness where ever you will
go. But here is what I suggest for you in terms of everything
greater in 08, everything will be great in 08 if you will allow
yourself to be the presence of the I AM. And no matter what the
waves are doing you will be ok, no matter what happens all around
you, you will be ok.
So this was my dream, and i woke up on Friday morning and I had some
big waves I had to face out in the world and I faced them and guess
what, I was ok and the big storm hit Friday night and the wind was
blowing and it was blowing like crazy at our house and in the
morning I step out in the patio and everything looks fine and I get
myself organized and tell my wife I am going to go and run some
errands now and I walked out the front gate and a tree had fallen
across the driveway and onto my daughters car. Oh this is not what I
expected when I walked out the door but interestingly enough the
night before we had loaned a car to a young person because his car
had broken down and we said you take our car and we met in Malibu
and we gave him our car and we drove home and she parked the go cart
not where she would normally have parked it, where the other car
would have been but she parked it where I usually park, and don’t
know why but something within me when she parked there felt right.
Something within me sort of enlightened that moment and I didn’t
know what I was seeing but I noticed it that the parking was right.
Where the tree fell down would have been where the car was so in the
other car my daughters car was in the tree totally in the tree top
and I could not tell if it was damaged or not. I called the man that
hauls brush away once a year and he answered the phone and he said I
will be there in one hour and so I went out and ran errands and I
came back the tree was cleared up , and cleaned up and gone and the
car did not have a scratch on it. You see no matter what happens in
the presence of the I AM you’ll be ok. The world might take a little
more time to wake up but what I am encouraging you to do is to live
from your Enlightment, live from claiming your word as law, live
from knowing that to ask, to seek and to knock is to claim to know
and to demand it is the same thing, and I am the one who has the
authority because I am the one that came through to burst through
the illusion to bring forth the wholeness as it actually is. So some
of us are in the eye of the needle and like if I could just step all
the way through, like that magician to come all the way through and
your going to come all the way through but I remind you of an Ernest
Holmes line. He said to desert the truth when you really need the
truth is to show that you never knew the truth in the first place
Now is the time for each of us to claim at the level of our exalted
consciousness the I AM that I really am and to invite it now to walk
forth into our world so that no matter what happens the grace of
God, the love of God the joy of God the beauty of God is what we see
and we say yes.
One little note the morning that the tree fell I meditated as i
usually do and what I am encouraging us to do, each of us is to in
your meditation to not go into the struggles of your life, don’t go
into your problems but simple see whatever those problems are and
invite the qualities of god to show up in your life. Not stuff but
the qualities of God and the day that that happened I asked the
universe to reveal to me and to show me today love, joy, beauty,
grace and confidence. By noon the errands were done and the driveway
was cleared, nothing was harmed and the only difference was God
wanted that tree out of the picture and I of myself did nothing but
the power within me it did the work.
You and I have the capacity to call forth the power and to watch it
work in our lives ad the only thing that we have to let go of is the
need to tell our story. In fact when you start telling yourself that
your story doesn’t interest you anymore you will find something a
lot more interesting to put your attention on and I think that what
we should put our attention on is everything great in 08 and I
invite you to think on these things and together let us explore the
possibilities.
