Love"

The science of mind for everything and we are happy
to include in today’s talk the renowned author and teacher John
Kehoe. Let me tell you a little about John Kehoe so that he has a
chance to go straight into the depth of the material without having
to tell you much about himself. John Kehoe a number of years ago
after having a successful career as a rock and roll promoter in
Canada went off to a cabin by himself to discover the nature of his
own existence. In that cabin where he spent months and months and
months with nothing except the nature and himself he discovered
principals they came to him through his intuition, through the voice
of God within himself.
Each one of us has the gift of intuition which is the direct
convenience of spirit to itself through itself. And from that
intuition he wrote a book called Mind Power and he developed a
series of lessons in Mind Power and then he began to speak and
lecture in mind power. He lectured in South Africa; he lectured in
Australia and informed thousands and thousands of people the premise
of mind power. What is very interesting is in the 1920’s a young man
named Ernest Holmes sat by himself after discerning the teachings
and writings of Ralph Waldo Emerson and he wrote a book called the
Science of Mind. And both of these teachers came up with the idea
that there is a law in the universe, a natural law that responds to
the individual by corresponding to the individual and in fact we
could say that that natural law is a spiritual law is an eternal law
and therefore a universal law. Meaning that it attracts the awakened
consciousness on this plane and on every plane and the truth being
it affects your consciousness whether you are awake or not, have you
noticed? That each one of us is the sum total of everything we think
say feel and do and there is a law a corresponding relationship
between my own vibration and the universe and what’s happening in my
experience of the universe.
So today we are talking about the science of mind for everything and
the subject matter is love. Well there are two areas of love that we
want to talk about today, first of all let me share this one quote
from Ernest Holmes from the book the science of mind there is one
infinite mind from which all things come. This mind is through and
in and around the human being. It is the only mind there is and
every time man thinks he uses it. There is one infinite spirit and
every time man’s say I AM he proclaims it. There is one infinite
substance and every time man moves he moves in it. There is one
infinite law and every time man thinks he sets the law into motion.
There is one infinite God and every time man speaks to this God he
receives a direct answer, there is only one.
So we are interested in how to use this one and we would say science
the definition of science is laws. Laws apply to bring about
specific results, laws applied to bring about specific results; the
use of the science is the discovery and the use of any law to bring
about a specific result. We learned about the law of thermal
dynamics, we learned about the law of motion, we learned about the
law of electricity, we learned about the law of gravity, we learned
about the laws of wind, we have learned all kinds of laws
preexistent laws we discover them and then we make use of them And
the science is using the law to bring about specific results. So
indeed we say there is a science of mind and spirit, a science of
this one law and what is that science? It is very simple and as much
as any individual can incorporate, as much as any good as any
individual can incorporate is his to use. As much as any good as any
individual can incorporate in their lives is ours to use and that
would be the Science of Mind in spirit. To use the law to bring
about specific results, to bring about what it is that we would seek
in our lives and yet we have been talking in this series about using
the law not so much for things, not so much for stuff but for
attitudes, for ways of being, for qualities of spirit for we are
told that we are born in the image and likeness of God and what we
really want is not to then use this law to create some humanness but
to begin to use the law to create more and more of my image as God.
To create more and more of the qualities of God and the qualities of
God would be love and joy and peace and harmony and grace and
magnificence and glory any quality of God how would we know it’s a
quality of god because it is eternal.
That is how we know it is a quality of god because it is eternal.
How then do we know we are eternal because I am born in the image
and likeness of God and the I AM that I AM shall continue to express
not only through this law that I use in this condition but through
the same law that I would use in any conditions. Ernest Holmes said
the soul seems fit to find a body here and it would make total sense
that the soul would be fit to find a body hereafter. We are an
eternal expression for every spiraling upward and there we are
looking to find out the value of life, the value of love and so we
talked about love as a two fold thing.
Love as the impulsion of the universe and I will again quote from
Dr. Holmes love is the central flame of the universe nay the very
fire itself. It is written that God is love and that we are
expressed as the image and likeness of this eternal being Love is
the self giving-ness through creation, the impartation of the divine
through the human. Love is essence an atmosphere which defies
analyses and as does life itself. It is that which is and cannot be
explained. It is common to all people, to all animal life and
evident in the response of plants to those who love them. Love
reigns supreme over all the essence of love while elusive pervades
everything. Fires the heart, stimulates the emotions renews the soul
and proclaims the spirit only love knows love, and love knows only
love.
Words cannot express its depth or meaning a universal sense alone
bears witness to the divine fact. A universal sense alone is the
only thing that bears witness to the divine fact God is love and
love is God.
So the teaching of the science of mind and spirit by whatever name
you would call it is a teaching of universal principals. It is a
teaching that says the fire of the universe, the impulse of all
creation is love. The reason that we exist as beings is because God
loves itself and it wants to know itself as you. Therefore it
becomes incumbent upon us in the new era in the new standard to love
ourselves, to love ourselves so much the primary choice that we make
everyday, the primary choice that we would make everyday is to
choose life. To choose the life that I am right now and to begin to
learn that primary choice not only for this lifetime but for all
lifetimes as we expand and grow and become ever more like the very
love that we are born in the essence of. To choose our life is the
beginning of love.
So speaking of wonderful speakers I went yesterday to an event in
San Diego the event features a fundamentalist minister, the new kind
of fundamentalist minister like the Joel Osteen type that talk about
the presence of the Christ as a way of being as opposed to
religiosities attempt to clarify it. Lisa Nichols of the secret some
of you saw the movie the secret. Michael Beckwith spoke, John
Assaraf also from the secret spoke. Ken Blanchard the author of the
one minute manager he also spoke, wonderful kind gentlemen and a
popular motivational speaker you may have heard of and his name is
Tony Robins he spoke and it was very interesting for me to note as I
watched these speakers that they are talking about ideas. And we
have all yearned for the day where the halls such as these would be
full and overflowing with the truth of the awareness of the one God,
one life one presence one I AM proclaiming itself and moving into
expression, we have all heard of this we have all yearned for this
and thousands were gathered there in that sports arena. It was good
and fun it was exciting to me to finally see what we yearned for and
prayed for that the thousands who are yearning would begin to
discover, would begin to take action would begin to show up and hear
the message of hope and possibility and probability in terms of the
science of potential, potential and kinetic.
So we are looking at two kinds of love today one is the potential
the divine impulsion of love to know itself to experience itself and
one is the experience of that love, kinetically from potential from
an infinite sea of possibilities into the direct connection of I
know faith and faith knows me and therein we discover love and I
know John and John knows me and there in we discover love. And we
begin to open to that love, to see love, to experience love to move
into that kinetic reality of love and here is what was so
interesting about these speakers because my beloved friends you will
forgive me but you are a little behind because each one of them
spoke in their own way of the meta and the physical universe, the
invisible component of the universe and the physical component of
the universe and so words would come out like this. We have a human
life and yes we have a human life and yes we have a spiritual life
and the way I understand that if we have a human life and we have
spiritual life all of a sudden we have two lives and I have some
news for you today In case you didn’t know there is only one life
and that life is the life of God and that life is my life. I am not
a human being learning what it is to be spiritual; I am a spiritual
being having a human experience. And I am now and I will always be a
spiritual being born of the impulsion of love with the capability of
loving without limit and from that unlimited love to experience the
joy of kinetic love in every moment I have as a human being. That’s
what were talking about as the science of mind for everything, not
some part, not one little relationship, not one happy sexual
experience, but love as the actual reality of who and what I am.
Love in expression and moving from expression so I would invite you
to think about something. Is success in your best year ever, in
everything great in 08 is success about power and status and stuff
or is success about love an ever deeper expressions of love and
evermore powerful memories of love, an ever deeper joy in love and I
would invite you to think about how I the I AM that I am as a
spiritual being can use the power of mind and spirit to know love
and to talk more about the power of mind and spirit and would you
please welcome Mr. John Kehoe.
I would like to talk about not the powers of the mind I would like
to talk about receiving and the power of receiving. It is very
interesting and I’ve been teaching for thirty years touring around
the world and I have noticed a very interesting phenomenon and that
is that were better at giving than we are at receiving. I will often
ask people are you a good giver and when I ask almost always they
will say yes I am a good giver and then I ask people are you a good
receiver and I hear such things as I want to be, I’m trying to be,
I’m better than I use to be and no. And it just seems very out of
sync and out of balance that most of us are excellent good givers
and most of us are poor receivers and there is a saying that it is
better to give than receive and I want you to know that that saying
is absolutely false. That saying has probably done more damage on a
spiritual level than any saying that I know. I would like to stand
up here in front of you this morning and say very clearly it is
absolutely not better to give than to receive. It is better to give
and receive, you give and you receive because you see if it is
better to give than receive then what that means is that there is
something wrong with receiving. And there is nothing wrong with
receiving, in fact what we need to do is we need to learn to receive
more because if were pushing away receiving, then how can we
possible give like we truly are meant to give until we can learn to
receive and be in balance. And it is very subtle I mean it is even
in complements we have a hard time receiving it. For example
somebody comes up to you and says I really like the outfit you are
wearing, that is a beautiful dress and they say oh this thing, oh I
picked it up for $20.00. You know like deflected right away or maybe
some one is moving and they ask you to come and help them and so
there you are and you have the truck and you spend all day moving
the furniture and moving all these boxes and there it is you spent
the whole day giving up your Saturday you have helped move your
friend and at the end of the day your friend says you know that was
so great and thank you so much and what do you say, it was nothing.
What do you mean it was nothing, what you should say is you’re darn
right you are lucky to have a friend like me. And so what we do is
that we learn how to receive. In the bible it says to love thy
neighbor as thyself and yet when we hear this when it is taught it
is always love thy neighbor as thyself, love thy neighbor as
thyself. Well it is love thy neighbor as thyself. So if you don’t
love yourself deeply if you don’t appreciate yourself then how can
you possible love your neighbor as God loves us? If we want to learn
to love deeply, if we want to learn to give deeply, if we want to
learn to be in harmony with the greatest spiritual laws that there
are and Harry is absolutely right these are laws, these are laws
that when we learn how to live them that we open ourselves up to
prosperity, we open ourselves up to health, we open ourselves up to
spiritual Enlightment and so we learn how to receive. We say God
Jesus the great mystery, the universe however you conceive of it, I
will be a good receiver Today I will receive inspiration, I will
receive love, I will receive complements, and I will receive beauty
and thank you for your song, as I received it. You are a moment of
today that touched deeply my heart. And I received Harry, every time
I listen to Harry he is a treasure and I received your teaching this
morning I am one of the worlds greatest receivers I truly am, I
receive deeply and as a result of receiving I have an abundance of
all things, an abundance of money flows through me, an abundance of
love flows to me, beauty flows to me because the kingdom of heaven
is spread all over the earth and yet we do not see it. Jesus taught
us that whatsoever things I do yea can do also. Jesus taught us
about love, learn to receive deeply, learn to get over the psychic
wound of I’m not good enough. I will tell you that is a wound that
is in most people and we don’t talk about it, we don’t talk about it
because we think that we are the only ones who have it and I know
because I have worked with people for thirty years, I know that it
is an almost every individual is that insidious psychic wound that
I’m not good enough. And when we can heal that wound, when we can
allow ourselves to not be perfect, allow ourselves to have our
idiosyncrasies and faults and inadequacies and far from being
unsavory parts of it they are what make us unique. They are our
gifts and so we open ourselves up to receive by being and practicing
receiving. You don’t need to learn how to be a good giver, you have
mastered that but what you do need to practice is receiving and when
you open yourself up to receive God gives you everything that you
desire. It is like the prodigal son and what the prodigal son
noticed that when he returned back to the father after being in
false ways and finding that that did not work for him he began to
come back to the father and what happened as he turned to return to
the fathers house the father saw him from a distance. He did not
have to make it back to the house and it was just as soon as he
turned on the path back and what did the father do he ran out and
put robes around him, he put rings on his fingers, he ordered the
fated calf to be slaughtered so that they could have a feast and
that is what the father did when he began to return home. Open
yourself up to receive, be a wonderful receiver, let joy touch you,
let beauty touch you, when somebody complements you, don’t shirk it
off, drink it in deeply and say thank you that is right, I am
talented as a singer, I am a gifted spiritual being, I am a unique
and wondrous human being, I am that and receive it. And practice
receiving and look again and again how can I receive more, How can I
be more, it is better to give and receive because when you open
yourself up to receive you will be given and given again, that is a
law, that is the promise, that is our destiny.
So the science of mind for love it’s about giving it’s about
receiving, it’s about understanding that at the end of the game it
all goes back into the box.
So I will tell you a story in closing and the story is about the
grandson whose grandmother use to come to visit twice a year and
they would play monopoly and the idea of the game is to get ahead,
to get a lot of stuff and so the grandmother would come out twice a
year and play the grandson monopoly and twice a year she beat the
grandson pretty good and every time she would beat the grandson she
would say you know you really have to learn to play the game. And so
one summer a new kid moved into the neighborhood and the kid liked
to play monopoly and so the grandson began to play with his new
neighbor the game of monopoly and they played everyday because he
knew grandma was coming in September to play monopoly with grandma
and sure enough grandma came and they shared a big hug and a big
greeting and he says to his grandma lets play monopoly. She said yes
and they had a game and the grandson won big time, Park Avenue, park
place, he had it all and grandmother says to the son, grandson you
did a great job and you have learned that game but let me tell you
about the game of life. She says in the game of life when it is all
done everything goes back in the box, all the park places, and the
hotels, all the cash everything goes back in the box and you go on
so in the game of life there is something more valuable than park
places and utilities and monies and cash because in the game of life
there is only one thing that doesn’t go back in the box and that is
your love. You love never goes back in the box, your love goes with
you and so we begin to prioritize our life, to say yes there is a
law that responds by corresponding and I will find the thing of
great value and I will work with that, that which never gets put
back in the box. So you can play the game and you can enjoy the game
and all the things that come with the game but there is only one
thing you get to keep and that is the love that you found along the
way in playing the game. The greatest thing we can ever know is
love, the greatest thing we could ever use the science of mind to
create is more love and if you want more love in your life, if you
want to move from potential to kinetic love then you have to begin
to emanate love, you have to begin to vibrate love, you have to
begin to see the world in love and when you see the world in love
the gift already given which is the law of creation you can begin to
create things of real value and things of real value are not things
in the box they are the things that never go in the box and I would
invite you in the science of giving and receiving and being choose
love from that highest vibration everything else will be added unto
you. And I invite you and in this journey we call life let us
journey together and explore the possibilities.
