THE NEW STANDARD
Part Four

This morning this is the fourth lesson in the last of the series of the new
standard and we are going to make it part of a dedication. So here we are
looking at the new standard and people would ask what do you mean the new
standard? We have been talking for several weeks about the idea that I believe
that we really are in a new era. That the prophecies of many different cultures
all point to around this time as a time of monumental change in the human
condition. Some of us in our own lives are feeling that monumental change, some
of us can feel what Ernest Holmes the great philosopher of the last century
called the divine urge that which pushes us and pulls us forward and it’s now
coming almost in our experience in many people’s lives it is coming almost as an
angst and we don’t know quite how to adjust. So what I say to people when they
ask me and some folks came into to see me and I shared with them some of the
ideas and some of the things that are happening to the physical body and the
physical experiences as were in this radical time of change and as we identify
some of those things people might notice for example there tends to be a great
deal of restless in sleep and it usually occurs beginning around four o’clock in
the morning. This is an hour of transformation and our friend Walter Starcke
the great author and living mystic shared with you that he has an idea that we
should really meditate in the morning because at night when we rest we fall into
so much of the race consciousness which is filled with fear and doubt and worry
and that we sort of lose focus so he recommends that we meditate in the morning
as kind of what he refereed to as a physic bath, to give your soul a change to
re strengthen its energy field and what we see in this time of change is that
there is a call to all of us and the call is inviting us to make changes in our
lives. The call is coming for people in different ways some people are getting
promptings to change their behavior patterns, some are being guided to cleansed
and purity their bodies, changing their diets, changing there exercise
programs. Some are being guided to increase their spiritual disciplines and to
focus more on the divinity and still others like ourselves are being asked to
increase our spiritual activities, to participate more, to move the I AM
presence into a group configuration because in the new era, in the new time the
changes are happening to us through us and usually happening at a gathering of
two or more Were beginning to see that a group dynamic is beginning to reveal
the presence of the I AM and the presence of solution. You may notice in your
own lives for example that if your feeling that divine urge or that angst or not
grounded in yourself that you will talk sometimes with a friend, sometimes you
will talk with a group of friends and all of a sudden you will feel stable
again. And it’s because the third appearance, the energy of the new age, the
new epoch. You know you wonder what’s going on in your life it feels so big
well get “big” epoch, epieo big so the question is well when is this new age
coming and a lot of us are looking at a clock and saying ok come on new age,
pop in and were wanting to say well if I just go to one more group meeting, if I
go to one more meditation, if I go and listen to Deepak again or Terry Cole
Whittaker but you might have noticed that you within you, you already have this
knowledge It is something not outside of yourself, its something congealing or
something coming clearer to yourself. And every time you get inside your own
consciousness and live from your awareness of divinity you feel pretty good and
then when you start to put your attention on your humanity, meaning your stuff
oh my God the further you go into humanity the freakier you feel. Is any one
able to relate to what I’m talking about? So we begin to say ok well then how
do I really begin and the answer to where I really begin is we need to live the
way life will be in it’s completion in the new era. In other words don’t try to
keep living the old way and try and figure out how I can live my old way while I
wait for this date to arrive because the date arriving, it’s an epochal change
and its going to come in waves and waves usually come in sets if you have
noticed. So some will change and then others will change and it will come in
waves and sets but something is going to change and there is a new way of being
or a new standard that is being asked of us. So that’s what we are talking
about in the new standard so by means of review let us look at the twelve
points, and there are sixteen points in the new standard. There are four
categories and four things in each category. So lets look at the twelve and
with each one lets make a heart commitment and everybody touch their heart, and
say I AM. Now we have all heard the idea that the hardest gap to close is the
eighteen inches between your head and your heart yes? There is a phrase another
wonderful teacher named Doctor Daniel Morgan who founded the guidance church.
Dr. Morgan said this in creditable mystic line at a conference and he said the
only thing you cannot have is that which you cannot embody. The only thing
which you cannot have is that which you cannot embody and so we are looking to
become the consciousness of thriving, the consciousness of the new standard, the
consciousness of the new way and it is not just in our head, it becomes a heart
experience, we know with our whole being, when your heart is in it don’t you get
the idea that your whole self is in it and by the way the new era requires that
we do the spiritual hokie pokie, and this means you put your whole self in. You
can’t just put your left foot in, your right foot in you have to put your whole
self in so that’s what were talking about to come into the new standard and to
thrive in the new standard and not wait for a date. So let us review the
twelve. The first category is the category of the self and the first thing we
must choose so embody that and take it into your heart. The first thing we must
choose in the self is to love the self. Let the tone of loving yourself
resonate in your heart and in the category of the self the second point is to
follow your own truth. To get guidance we must follow that guidance which we
called here before to be a trope. As the sunflower follows the sun we follow
our guidance. The third category in the self is to trust yourself, to trust
that guidance. I don’t know why I am here, spirit sent me here and I found
myself here and I am in my right place, I trust myself and the fourth category
of the self is to allow the self to step into the flow little by little.
Abundance is not a mass in wealth, abundance is to be present in the moment and
to notice the abundance around you always and when you become present in the
moment and notice that abundance always you will begin to know that you are
truly always abundant and that’s part of the new standard. So let’s do the two
tones together as the category of creation First point in the category of
creation is to take responsibility for your creations The second point is to
give your creations freedom, let your work all the work of your life let it do
its work. Free it let your work do its work. The third in the category of
creations is to allow everybody else’s work to do its work. We have already
several times this morning mentioned Dr. O C Smith that’s his work, we call
forth his work and we know his work does good work and we allow it no matter
what dimension he is in and we allow his work to do its work, everyone’s work to
do their good work. The fourth in the area of creation is to know the knower.
To know the Gnostic, one God knowing. Within my heart of hearts I really do
know I am ok, I really do know all things will work out for the better , I
really do know the answer is present and we begin to live with the part of us
that knows and knows that it knows. The third category is life and the first
thing in the category of life is to choose life in the new standard. To always
choose your life, to choose life and to make all the choices that support
choosing life. In the category of life the second is compassion for the self,
compassion for yourself, for whatever you see or didn’t see, what you know or
didn’t know, to know that you’re the beloved of the most high I am right now
the beloved of the most high and I’m choosing life. Honoring my life in every
moment. Compassion for everything of myself, compassion for what I don’t know,
for what I will yet to know, for what I haven’t known, for mis-creations
compassion for myself. The next part is compassion for everyone else. The
great master teacher showed the way in compassion in the ultimate moment he said
forgive them they know not what they do. Forgive all; compassion and
forgiveness are vibrations in the sacred heart in the Buddhist heart a very
similar energy and truth, compassion for all smiling on all. The third in the
category of life is to accept the blessings of life. Everyday every flower,
every breeze, every friend every connection, every heart, every moment to look
around you and notice life is seeking to empower you, is seeking to bless you
and we have to be present to the blessings of life. Accepting the blessings of
life And the fourth in the category of honoring life is to treat life to
understand the law, the law of reciprocal action, his law of attraction, the law
of giving and receiving, the law of correspondence. That all things happen in
accord with the law of “as”. As I give so shall I receive, as I love so shall I
be loved, as I extend so shall I be extended to as the principal given by the
master as and let it become a principal that always lives in your heart as part
of the new standard.
Now we will approach teaching and living in the new standard and I want to tell
you a story and my wife and I drove up to see our daughter who is running a
horse program in the summer camp in the high sierras and the way that God would
have it we had already planned this trip for several weeks and it was the time
between one group of kids leaving and another group is coming so she had the day
off and that was the day we went to go see her. What happened is among the
staff a young man twenty six years old made a physical error and placed a camera
in the girls shower and this is a man in a leadership roll, not a good thing to
do and of course they found out and he was immediately released. The staff
members all in their twenties were dealing with this leader who they thought the
world of who had made a mistake and there is no sin but a mistake and no
punishment but the logical outcome. So he compounded that mistake because the
next morning the young man took his life. Now in the new standard we choose
life, we always choose life. What decision do you make in the new standard, how
do you go. As a standard of being as a way of being, you choose life and isn’t
interesting that the weekend that I was asked to be there was the weekend that
these young people were dealing with this challenge and they didn’t want to hear
the minister go into the whole thing about life eternal etc. They didn’t want
to know about no sin but a mistake and no punishment. They wanted an answer,
they wanted to know what was there’s to do and how easy it was for me to say,
choose life. You have new kids coming up choose life, you have new leadership
opportunities and the gap needs to be filled, choose life as the first move
under the category of life, and choose life. Do you see how easy it is to teach
the new standard? Were not waiting for an opportunity to give somebody an essay
were simply being the new standard calling ourselves to live in the new standard
and in living in that new standard to recognize that ours is to teach. Is this
making sense? To teach by means of being the new standard and yes some people
will not know what the new standard is and so there will be an opportunity to
teach. So I said to these young people you know the way it is in the world now
they have not been listening to me, they have not been on the internet hearing
about the new standard. They know that we live in a new era and as soon as I
said the way of the new era is to choose life they all started to reframe
themselves about what they were going to do and how it was going to be and by
the time a few hours had passed and it was time for us to leave they said we
were so grateful to hang out with you. Young people hanging out with old Dr.
Harry and they were saying that they were thrilled to hang out with you because
it doesn’t matter what age you are you choose life in the new era and that’s the
simple way of teaching the new era. We choose to love the self, we choose to
trust the self, you choose life, and you choose responsibility for your
creations. Do you see how these young people were called by means of
circumstance to step into the new era, to become part of the new standard and it
will be happening all around you and each of us will be called to teach all in
the new standard. Everybody touch themselves and say I AM that part of you is
now being asked to teach everyone who enters into the arena of your experience
and you know there is something called the cosmic sweep of love it is the
emanation from God downloading the way of the new standard into the minds and
hearts of all whether they ever heard me speak or not. Whether they ever heard
words new thought or not, or whether they ever heard of Ernest Holmes or any
other great master or not. Whether we ever saw the secret or not, it is the new
era and the new energy is present and when we are in it we will be called to
teach it. And some will say well who will we be called to teach? Does
everybody here want to sign up for a workshop? Do you feel like you would want
to lead a workshop or get a sign up sheet because you might find your law of
attraction isn’t that strong? Nothing personal but everybody has there job in
the new standard, everybody’s has their gifts and talents, not everyone is to be
a seminar leader and teach the new standard but everyone is called to teach the
new standard in whatever the form is because the new era requires a new way of
being. We cannot function the old way in the new era and expect it to work and
you will see this again and again and again. Model itself in business, model
itself in the arts, model itself in politics, we need to become the new standard
and work in life the new way. So we will be called to teach and so how do I
teach them? Well you might bump into someone at the store, it might be a
coworker, it might be a child, and it might be a friend. I went up to visit my
daughter I didn’t know I was going to be teaching in the new standard, do you
see it? You don’t know when you’re going to be called to teach you don’t know
how you’re going to be called to teach but we teach all and how do you know.
Well they will come to you and the first thing that you do when they come to you
is you listen Listen because the I AM within you that which is the way the life
and the truth its knows what to say and it knows when to say it but it requires
that you listen We begin to listen with your whole being and you notice
something. Our friend Dee Wallace works as a spiritual healer and she works a
lot with pendulums and so Dee and I were in a coffee shop the other day and we
were working with pendulums, checking to see the validly of some ideas that we
were working with and someone that walked by us just reacted what are you doing
and Dee graciously said we are checking energies, checking energies in the field
and so this soul in the coffee shop wanted to know about the new standard but
she didn’t know that’s what she wanted to know, do you see it? It is showing up
everywhere you will be called to teach, to listen, and to hear you will be
called again and again to teach the new standard and you begin that teaching by
listening, listening to yourself to what is yours to say. That soul in the
coffee shop wanted to know something, those young people who are going to be
leading children wanted to know something and you will be called because part of
the new standard is to teach all who come see you. They will come at the right
time and you will listen and you will listen with more than just your ears. You
will listen with your being. Have you ever notice that you jump in and that’s
the ego’s self which is my human self. My human self always wants to fix things
but in the new standard you don’t fix you allow. In the new standard you call
forth a higher presence, in the new standard you feel into it and if you stay in
your head you will circle around and around like a hamster in a wheel and what
am I suppose to do, let me tell you something your thoughts cannot tolerate the
presence. Your thoughts cannot tolerate the presence that’s why you have to
move from your head to your heart because in my heart I can tolerate presence,
in my head I go what am I suppose to do, what am I suppose to say, how does that
prayer go, I forgot you see your head will just take you all away and in the
standard you become present, you feel you sense at every level and so you listen
and feel and then you let the ideas come forth and they will. Second part of
the new standard the first part is teaches all and listens, let’s embrace it.
Second thing under teaching is to be a teacher of joy. Well now a lot of people
go oh God now I have heard about the new standard and I know there is a new way
of being and a new era and now I’m going to be obligated to God, and I’m going
to get brownie points in heaven because everyone that comes to me I’m going to
teach them the new standard. I’m going to be ready and I’m going to teach it
and I’m getting brownie points as soon as I teach the new standard, no, no, you
do not teach for any other reason than it is your joy to teach. No other reason
than it is your joy to notice that someone has come into your field, in the
energy of your experience who is seeking to know something from you and all
yours is to give them whatever they are seeking. Just to give it to them not
because you will get anything back but because it is your joy to give it to
them. I have tried and I have some experience in this ministry game and I have
married and buried a few people along the way so here I am in another situation
where all these young people are surrounded by this energy that was very
discomforting to them, grief is a sad thing and it is a very sad thing for the
young man and I am sorry for the mistakes and here is the compassion in the new
standard do you see it? I am sorry that you made those mistakes, I am sorry
that nobody saw it, we stretch our compassion, not in sympathy but in knowing
there is another possibility the presence of God is still here, still providing,
still helping, we become the presence and so here I was with these young people
and hanging out with me and they were hanging out with my daughter who was there
and I am wanting to be of service, I am wanting to know what to say and it
wasn’t until finally I said you know what guys I’m going to go and jump in the
lake because you have to choose life and I’m going to choose life right now and
I’m going to jump in the lake and feel that water and they got it. When I said
choose life they got it, choose life they said ok that’s what we have to do we
have to help everybody choose life and the words came through and I didn’t know
what was going to come through. They came through the old method didn’t work
and I just had to wait and listen and pay attention. I wanted to be of service,
being present and compassionate and then I said well you know we have to choose
life and that was it they got it. They had something to surf and take them
through and it will spread through that whole community and they are going to
have to reframe in the context of choosing life and that’s the new standard,
coming into being in a new way. So what did I get from that the moment that I
saw them catch that choose life, I felt so good, do you see it? I wasn’t
teaching to get anything, I was teaching for joy because the deeper truth is
joyful. Joy is the infallible sign in the presence of God so I teach for joy.
So I teach all and I teach for joy. Now this is two under the new standard so
let’s dive in I’m teaching joy. Third idea in the new standard of teaching and
being is to teach without expectation or reward. I don’t know about you but I
need work in this area. I started this quest in 1976 and I became a minister in
1990, ordained in 1992 and I was in Hollywood before I was a minister and I was
doing very well and I was in the top three percent of the working actors and the
screen actors gill and the phone could ring tomorrow and your life could change
and that always helped me in my struggles as an artist and it always helped me
to know well the phone could ring at any moment and my life could change and
then I went into ministry and there is this great line from Ralph Waldo Emerson
in his essay in compensation. He says on the subject of compensation God is way
ahead of theology meaning that whatever you give will always come back to you.
You don’t need to measure, you don’t need to count on it, and whatever you give
will always come back to you. In the old way of being this is the way that I
did it well God you took away the rainbow pot and here I said yes to you and so
I’m going to become the next Terry Cole Whittaker and I often say to ministers
who think they are going to be the next Terry Cole Whittaker she is a good
friend of mine and not even Terry Cole Whittaker was not even Terry Cole
Whittaker. She was out there on television manifesting this great thing but
underneath there was some real confusion going on and all that prosperity and
abundance was not quite working the way it was suppose to work. So I thought I
lost the pot of gold and the rainbow so in ministry I am going to unfold and I
thought surely the Joel Goldstein phenomenon will come unto me right and God
said nice dream Harry but not yours. So that is the old standard to somehow be
keeping account and knowing that God is storing up and I am teaching because I
am actually building up karmic points in heaven, I am building up storage house
and that is why I am being a light Why am I being so gracious to the person at
the dry cleaners and it’s because I know I am gaining brownie points, I don’t
really want to be loving with the person at the dry cleaner but I am gaining
brownie points. Compensation is being done unto me right? Anyone know what I am
talking about? So in the new standard you totally let go of expectation of
reward, you just totally let go. I am being present with you now because it is
my joy to be present with you now. I teach all and I teach with no expectations
of reward. Touch yourself and say I AM, I am a light worker do you see that’s
its own reward. The fact that you’re a light worker in a world wanting to come
into the light, out of the darkness and into the light, that’s it own reward.
The funny thing is when you start to teach with any sense of reward ironically
is when you start to step into the flow of abundance. It’s all here because I
am becoming present because abundance isn’t the concept that you thought it was
in the old era, abundance in the new era is a flow, and it’s a being present
Its look how rich I am now, look how rich I am now, look here I came to the
mountain to see my daughter and these young people need love and need support
and I’ll just be here in this beautiful place and they all came unto me, they
all just came why because they wanted the presence. They wanted the new era and
they are from the new era and I’m a teacher in the new era. Everyone touch
themselves and say I AM, I am a teacher and how right you are because all around
you they don’t know what’s going on but you know what the new standard is. You
call yourself to the new standard, you call yourself to begin to live by the
terms of the new standard and all of a sudden you will be attracting according
to the new standard. You know that I AM is the activity of God, the action of
God in me now is the I am that I am right? That’s the new way that’s the new
presence that I want to be in and it’s its own reward, it’s already there. Why
are you going to wait to discover your already in your own reward, you can be
there now but we have to choose to be in the new standard and teach because it’s
my joy and listen so I know what to teach. I teach without any expectation or
reward, I am a light worker in the world and God already made me a light worker
and that’s its own reward The fourth quality under teaching and being in the
new standard is to teach the one God knowing and to teach the one God knowing as
the I AM that I AM.
There is a part of us and we have talked about it several times and I will go to
it again There is a part of us that knows and knows that it knows and the part
of us that knows the twenty third psalms says yea thou I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death we really know that we have walked through it and that
the presence of God has been with us. The part of us that recognizes I will
always be ok. You know no matter what’s going on in your humanity, oh man
whether its debt or divorce or relationship or disease or whatever is going on
in your humanity, loneness and I have compassion for any of those things but
whatever is going on there is a part of you in you knows that you will make it
through that. The part of you that really does know at the end of this whole
game when ever this all gets cleaned up or worked through or transformed or
transfigured there is a part that really knows you’ll be ok. And it is kind of
like what we were talking about last week in the Mobius strip and the oneness
flips into what we call subjective reality meaning my internal reality and
objective reality in the physical reality, the way it is showing up in the
world. We can say it goes from the Meta to the physical same idea, from the
invisible side to the visible side. So there is a part of us that can look from
our invisible nature, can look at whatever’s happening in our world and really
know were ok. No matter how extreme it gets and people say oh no, you don’t
know how big my story is. I would just ask you and life is not comparative but
my story was seventeen doctors said I was going to die, seventeen doctors that’s
a good panel yes? But somehow in the midst of that because I had already been
informed on the invisible side of life on the subjective side of life part of me
knew I was ok no matter what the seventeen doctors were saying. That part of me
that knew I was ok would be the phnose of myself. The knower within me that
knows that no matter what’s going on I’m ok. Now some of you may be having this
experience in your life that when you fall back into your practice, when you
remember, you put on a CD or you read a book or you say some affirmations or you
do some prayer work or you turn to your meditation and you come back into your
sense of peace and you feel ok and then you start contemplating your problem out
there again and you don’t feel ok anymore, any one relate this this? So what we
are interested in then is part of teaching and being in the new standard is to
teach the knower, no matter what somebody’s turmoil is something within you
knows that that person is going to be ok and something within them knows there
going to be ok right? So whatever the dream is even if its a dream, so someone
has a dream and wants to get married and have children and they don’t even have
a boyfriend yet and I don’t know where that person going to be they are never
going to commit, that’s what the mind does yes? And another part says no I will
be a good father or good mother and I can feel my family, and it doesn’t matter
what stage of life you are in or I will be a good partner and it doesn’t matter.
Part of you knows even without the external, part of you knows its there so
part of teaching in the new standard is to teach the part within everybody that
knows because the experience that you are having where your learning to find
your knower and be able to sit in there and then you go into your humanity and
we get freaked out and thank God at least you know the knower there. You’re
coming into the awareness that my knower knows and the more you participate with
the knower the more you sit in the saddle with your knower the easier the rides
going to be. The more you come out of the saddle and go out here into the world
of affairs without your knower the harder and more arduous the ride is going to
be. Something is already being revealed to you by means of your path but
something within you knows and knows that it knows and so part of the new
standard is to teach everyone who comes to you about that part of them that
knows because a lot of people forgot there is such a part. A lot of people
don’t know that there is that part of themselves so in teaching the new standard
we teach the knower that knows.
So here is the ritual Reverend David is going to play sixteen gongs if you are
willing allow each of those bells of freedom themselves allow each of the bells
to take you deeper into the commitment to live in the new standard. So allow
yourself to become still, open yourselves up and let’s affirm together as a
group I AM, I AM and listen to the sixteen bells.
For this holy opportunity to be part of the awakening world and be an instrument
of light in the field of love we are truly grateful and we consecrate this
moment and we join the saints, sages’ mystics and masters and all the light
workers as we step into a new era of possibilities. For this we are truly
grateful and so we simply release and we let go as we look forward in awe and
wonder we say thank you God. My friends I could not be more thrilled to be in
the new era with you and together I invite you to think on these things and let
us explore the possibilities....................
