"Living by Design"

Today is palm Sunday and it occurred to me in the
last several weeks we have been talking a lot about preparing
ourselves for an Easter consciousness and we have been using a lot
of biblical references and we have been referring to the master
teacher and a lot of the things that he said along the way and then
it occurred to me that people are going to get the idea that I am
religious and I’m not because what I believe is religion is simply
the bridge to God. All religions are designed to be the bridges to
take us to a truth which can only be revealed in our own hearts And
while I support all religions and while I understand the parables
brought through the Judeo Christian tradition what I also know is
that every tradition has similar parables and similar stories and we
are living in a time where science and the book the Science of Mind
written by Ernest Holmes the opening line, the dedication is
dedicated to freeing man from himself and the Easter story is really
about that freedom. It’s about freeing us as Judy shared in her
inspirational thoughts, freeing ourselves from the bondage of
physicality and to step into a new dimension in consciousness. Also
in the very first paragraph of the book beyond the dedication it
says we all look forward to the day when science and religion walk
hand in hand from the visible into the invisible. When science and
religion walk from the visible into the invisible and that’s of
course the era that we are living in. And while I love to use the
scientific metaphor which is a very valuable metaphor most of the
times when I bring up that metaphor people end up going “what did he
say”. Because we have an understanding of the quantum field but we
don’t really understand it deeply enough to use it to explain our
spiritual life, although the answers are clearly in that metaphor.
The metaphor of science is revealing in our day a spiritual reality.
So when I say I am not religious don’t get confused I am dedicated
and deeply committed to my spiritual walk and to my spiritual path
and to my spiritual reality and what I believe is that commitment is
really what is required. Greta the great German philosopher Greta
said where there is boldness there is genius right? And we I believe
are at the place where we need to be bold in our demand upon
ourselves to reveal the truth to ourselves. That something needs to
happen on the inner side of life in order now that we have through
the parables of religion, through the understanding of science,
through the realizations in psychology through all of the
correlation of the laws of science, the opinions of philosophy and
the revelations of religion have all come forward to this new place
that simple says it begins in me. And it begins by some inner shift
within my own being and with that inner shift comes the next part of
it which is my willingness to walk behind that shift in faith and
conviction. To walk with boldness until it happens and that’s what
Palm Sunday is all about. Palm Sunday is all about boldness and
boldness having to do with the design with a plan with that which
was known
If you are a reader I will give you a very interesting spiritual
book and you won’t believe who the author is that will give you a
lot of the insight into the life of the man Jesus, of the boy Jesus,
of the walk of Yeshua Ben Joseph and the book is written by Ann Rice
and it is called Christ’s way. Can you imagine the scary writer that
she would write this and so when someone mentioned this book to get
insight into the character of Yeshua I said to the person I cannot
handle scary stuff? Jesus in his day was very religious and in case
some of you may have forgotten he was Jewish. The Jewish prophet
showed the way to the revelation of the Christ and Jesus never heard
the term Christ it did not exist in his vernacular but it existed in
Paul’s vernacular who wrote about Jesus but remember the first
writings about Jesus didn’t come until eighty years after he had
passed.
You all played a game called telegraph you start with something at
the beginning of the line a simple truth and by the time it gets to
the end of the line its all screwed up and you don’t know what the
color green is. So imagine if we had eighty years in order to try to
get the story right, about what happened. So lets take a look at
palm Sunday and I wanted to begin with this quote from Corinthians
as it is written the eye has not seen nor the ear has not heard and
neither have entered into the heart of man the things that God has
prepared for those who love him. The eye has not seen, the ear has
not heard neither has entered into the heart of man the things which
God hath prepared for those that love him. Now what I would say to
you there is a glory, there is a glory that is available in your
life as a way of your life. Remember as a way of your life that is
there for you to claim its there waiting for that new level of
commitment, to that new level of boldness in you and I want to
remind you from Ernest Holmes that plans consciousness and remember
the line which Jesus says I go to prepare a place for you and you
know the way. The next line of you knows the way is I am the way.
Everyone touch themselves and say I am. See within you is this
center and here is what Ernest Holmes says about the I AM within
you. Ernest Holmes was a powerful metaphysician who was one of the
founders in the new thought movement as it continues to move in the
world and Ernest Holmes said this about the I AM. This is the I AM
at the center of your being, this I AM is the I AM at the center of
your being; it is the hub of your own spiritual wheel. We should
think of our spirit as being part of the universal, part of the
universal whole and our minds as open to the divine influx. So the
thing that we are looking for which is a deeper reality of God is at
the very center of our being so hence you hear the line that which
you are looking for you are looking with. What you are looking for
is the deepest realization of your I AM presence, to know it to
experience it and you are looking for it from within it. So as we
open our mind recognize that this is the center of my being as we
begin to purpose ourselves and meditate on and move in the direction
of this I AM presence revealing itself. Saint Germaine wrote of the
I AM presence as the mighty I AM presence. The mighty self of your
self and that’s the boldness that entered in on Palm Sunday and so
let me remind you a little of the story. Eyes have not seen nor ears
heard nor have entered into the heart of man the glory. We haven’t
even let it into our hearts the magnificence of what is yet possible
but were getting there. Behold we stand at the door and knock,
behold we stand at the door and knock and that’s our spiritual
journey to stand at the door of that I AM consciousness and knock
and call it forth and bring it forth until such moment as all of a
sudden the struggle disappears and we notice the I AM is going
before us and making the way clear. Wouldn’t that be great to all of
a sudden free yourself from all of that strain, all of that struggle
and notice the I AM consciousness is going before you to make the
way clear. Why because daily we should meditate on the I AM
conscious, daily we should pray in and of hence we are taught to
pray affirmatively. To know that there is one power, one presence,
that one life belongs to all and I am that. Everyone say I AM and
you cannot be Luke warm about whether the spirit of God lives within
you so the next time you touch yourself and you are doing it because
you are talking about your sacred heart center . Is there anything
more sacred that the very heart of your own being. When you claim I
am you are claiming that the heart of my own being is one with the
divine. Now touch yourself and say I AM can you feel the difference
and that is the master mind consciousness that two or more are
gathered to claim this revelation is going to come forth as me
otherwise the two thousand year old story is just a story. Clearly
it does not happen on Easter
Sunday because Easter Sunday moves around have you noticed? Easter
Sunday is always the first Sunday after the first full moon after
the spring equinox which is why this year it is so early which means
between the 21st and the 23rd there is going to be a full moon. So
let’s look at Palm Sunday and what was the story of Palm Sunday?
Jesus had been working around and he knew all of the principals, all
the laws much like the understanding. We have taken some time to
learn some understanding of the nature of ourselves, to understand
that we live in a universe of love and law. That we live in a
universe governed by love, impelled by love, caused to move forward
by love and governed by a perfect law. That everything happens by
the law of “as”. As you think so shall it be, as you believe so
shall it be done unto you. The tendency of your thought as the
tendency of your thought, as you forgive so shall you be forgiven.
You see the law of as and part of the new standard is to really
embody the law of as. Nothing is going to happen to you unless it
happens through you and so we cannot be wishie washie or Luke warm
about our I AM. So here is Jesus’ life and he is walking around his
disciples trying to get them to do it and James walked on the water
and he is walking on the water fine coming to Jesus and what happens
he looks down and see’s that he is on the water and what does he do,
he sinks and what does Jesus say as he is walking on the water. Oh
yea of little faith because you were already walking on the water
until you did not believe and then you fell right in because you
believed that only he could walk on the water. Anyone got any of
those he or she’s and you believe that they walk on water and you
can’t? It is always the process of what’s happening inside and he
looks around and he has his twelve fellows and he has been walking
the country side doing miracles. We have heard about the miracles,
loaves and fishes and water into wine, lame to walk and blind to see
and deaf to hear, does anyone know what I ’m talking about. So he
did some miracles along the way and he still looks around at his
twelve fellows who cannot do miracles yet. But master just give us a
little help and we will do miracles here and so his disciples can do
sort of miracles but we don’t hear much about there’s but in his
consciousness they did because who passed the baskets around with
the bread, it was the disciples and they believed in the miracles
and so long as the consciousness of the master was there we can do
miracles and we will support the miracles and the master said no you
are not going to get it because the power is within you. Behold in
the Palms it says in the Palms yea are Gods and we keep saying go
ahead and have the courage to say I am God oh no my tradition says I
cannot say I am God well so long as you can’t say you are God as
your law it becomes your life. Until you can say I am that, I am it
now I maybe not revealing it at the level that I want but it is non
the less the truth and its this commitment on the inside that is
required.
So he meditates and he says don’t you know ye are Gods and you are
all sons and daughters of the most high. This is what it says in
psalms ye are Gods and you are all sons and daughters of the most
high. So now you have to choose to reveal that consciousness now
what happens on Palm Sunday was as he was coming into Jerusalem he
has made some waves and remember the Romans are in charge and he has
made some waves along the way and the Romans don’t like to hear that
somebody other than their main man is healing people and creating
miracles but he is doing this all over the country side walking for
miles and miles and his twelve men do not get it yet and he realizes
and he says you know what I could do this for another thirty years
and this isn’t going to go and this is after three years. Nothing is
going to happen and unless I die the seeds are not going to spread.
So he sets it up and he comes into Jerusalem the week before Friday
and he makes it a big deal and he has everybody lay down palm
fronds. You know who they use to lay down the palm fronds, Julius
Cesar the roman emperors so he was making a big statement. I am the
king of kings greater than Julius Cesar am I because he is coming
from prophecy from the books from the Jewish tradition that he was
very familiar with and he says lay down the palm fronds because we
are going to walk in and claim the I AM presence, were going to walk
in and claim God. We are going to come into Jerusalem and claim God
and then he says go and get a burro and make sure its a white burro
why because who rode on the white horses and burros’ were only kings
and queens. I am going to make a statement about all of us because
we are all going to walk in on the palm fronds and you see the palms
all around and the palms were there in the doorway and that is
because you are that exalted Christ waiting for the resurrection,
waiting for yourself to become free. Waiting for yourself to let go
of the bondage of your limited life and choose I am joyous creation
and begin to create what it is you mean by designing your own life
the way that you want it to be. So here he comes in and he does this
whole thing and he did it specifically to kick up the dust.
Specifically to say you say I am king and I say you are right about
that I am king. You say I am queen and I say you are right about
that I am queen. You are the exalted one there is no higher than you
and as I look out at you today I guarantee you there is no one, no
where anywhere on the planet any higher than you. You are the Christ
in potential, you are the Buddha awakening, and you are the power of
the exalted one, no one else. Dr. Harry is talking about me and I am
that because only as you claim it if you claim it as knowing it’s
the truth is that freedom ever going to come to you. Have you
noticed that you’re not free or am I the only one? Have you noticed
that so far we haven’t quite got ourselves to the liberation that we
mean? Which means that everyday we literally don’t wake up and say
I’m going to find the joy in my life just as soon as I find myself
and get out of this struggle and out of this mess? Somewhere along
the way today I will find the joy in me, no this is like the moment
you awake behold this is the day the lord has made and I am rejoiced
and glad in it. Behold my creation is doing exactly what I want it
to do, behold I am willing to receive my good in this day. Behold
because all miracles are waiting to happen they can only happen as
you are willing to receive them. It is as if they don’t exist until
you can receive them. So this is all about preparing our
consciousness to step into the boldness of being, to claim what it
is to be someone who is living their life by design. We look in the
nineties and the book the seven habits of highly affective people
and what is the first habit of highly affective people, the first
habit is to begin with the end in mind. But what we think about in
terms of the end of mind if you have a project that is going to end
in a banquet we think the end in mind is a banquet. I think this is
a great way to do it but I say we are spiritual beings having a
human experience well then the end in mind is the full realization
of who and what I am. The end in mind is to know that I am the
Christ and I am the Buddha I am the way shower, I am the light, I am
the avenue through which greater love, greater joy, greater peace,
greater magnificence, greater glory is revealed, I am that. The I Am
is in you, it’s a first person in you, I am the resurrection and the
light, I am that and it is only as you purpose yourself to let that
rise up out of your story. God I use to think I was this and now
I’ve discovered I am this. I am now living from my exalted state of
consciousness and that is the whole purpose of Easter is to
resurrect, to be resurrected and here is what Dr. Holmes reminds us.
Dr. Holmes says plains remember Jesus’ says I go to prepare a place
for you, I go to another plain but plains are not places Ernest’s
says they are states of consciousness; Behold we enter into the
Easter season this year to reveal Christ is God in the soul of man.
The resurrection is the death of the belief that we are separated
from God, how about that happening to you this holy week. That you
let go of the belief that you are separated from God, that you let
go of the belief that somehow this fourth of July version of
spirituality has to happen to you meaning the lights come on, that
all of a sudden the light room fills with light and you go oh my God
the veil is ascending and I see it now and all of a sudden you have
had this fourth of July version of God and you know after ecstasy
the laundry. Meaning even though you crave for a fourth of July
fireworks version of realization it’s not what you really crave
because what you really crave is to be able to live your life in the
joy and the magnificence of your resurrected self. Of your true
nature who knows that you are separated from God not now or anyway.
So here is the deal, I believe in the Passover plot, I believe it
was all on purpose, I believe it came out of meditation, I believe
he did get Judas to corporate with him and I believe he had a yes
from all of his disciples so that all of them corporate with him in
order to bring about this resurrection which was to release the idea
that the physical body was the truth of who and what we are. When
the truth of who and what I am is the I AM consciousness born in the
image and likeness of God and my journey out into the far country is
simple to experience that consciousness in my life wherever I am. No
matter how far out into the far country I go behold the presence of
Christ is among us because it lives in me as me. And we could call
that Christ, Atman, Buddha the high self we could call it by any
religion, we could call it an embodiment of the quantum field if
that gives you an Easter experience then claim it. But we have to
purpose ourselves, we have to commit to this resurrection, we have
to commit and the great line from Nelson Mandela speech we are born
to make manifest the glory of God it is not just in some of us its
in everyone. And as we let our own light shine we unconsciously give
other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our
own fear our presence automatically liberates others. Behold I am
choosing life, I am choosing life and that choice no matter what I
am facing in my world it gives other people permission to choose
life. And when you choose life again and again pretty soon the
exalted life will come upon you and it will come without announcing
itself and usually without fireworks. Usually transformation happens
very suddenly and we look back ourselves and we say oh my God I was
afraid of the first of the month for fifty five years and all of a
sudden I’m not afraid of the first of the month anymore why because
something in your consciousness shifted, something in your
consciousness knows no matter what appears to be you always make it.
Something in your consciousness realizes that indeed you are an
upward forward progressive spiral; you are rising up to a higher
level in consciousness. Something within you knows by purposing
yourself through your daily prayer and meditation you are rising up.
How much good can we have in our lives as much as your are able to
incorporate. As much as you’re able to embody that much you embody
that much you have. We are not seeking this to happen to someone
outside of yourselves so if you thought you had to grow through
illumination or some spontaneous forth of July version of
spirituality, I have news for you most of us are going to grow by
seeing the beauty in the flower that we noticed today, most of us
are going to grow by seeing the Christ in you in a way that I never
saw it before today. Most of us are going to grow by calling forth
our unity no matter what appears to separate us and calling that
forward from each other and through each other. Most of us are going
to grow by seeing through the mist of separation and knowing that
who I am looking at is the very face of God. Most of us are going to
grow by having a shift in our inside which will become the
expression on the outside. And this is what were shown what were
shown is boldness has genius and power in it and when you are
willing. People say I come here and they make me touch myself and
say I AM and I am not making you do anything, it’s only as something
within you rises up and is willing to touch your own sacred heart
and say oh my God I AM. I am the Buddha awakening; I am the Christ
coming into myself. I am Yeshua’s friend, I am Solomon’s friend, I
am David’s friend I am all the Buddha’s friend, I am the friends of
all people in all times in all places, I am the love and its in my
sacred heart and maybe I haven’t let it out yet but its in there.
And I am purposing myself to let it out, I am purposing myself to
lay down the palms and say yes I am the Christ. I am the exalted one
and I will not rest until it is revealed in me and as me and through
me. We are not asking it to come through anybody else but for
ourselves, we acknowledge that we are the ones who can create the
positive future we seek. We are the ones who will create the
positive future we seek I am not waiting for the world to change Mr.
John Meir the singer I am the avenue through which the world will
change. We are not waiting for it to come from something outside of
ourselves there is no hope in a political future there is no hope in
a religious future, there is only one hope and that is that everyone
will come into the realization that all are one. And that behold we
bring forth a new kingdom and a new earth as it has been promised
because every Saint, sage mystic from every tradition has said
exactly the same thing. Trust in thy sacred heart, live according to
thy sacred heart, open thy sacred heart, knock, seek and ask and it
shall be revealed unto you. But it sometimes takes an act of
boldness and it sometimes says we must lay down the palm fronds and
make a big dramatic entrance. Sometimes we have to convince
ourselves that the things we have been holding on to are not truth
and we have to call ourselves up to a higher level. Sometimes we
have to face that which is not what we want it to be and say no this
is not what I mean and this is what I mean. And even if it means a
big dramatic walk, even if it means a big dramatic week, so be it. I
would rather have one big dramatic week than hundreds or ninety five
years of suffering right? Henry David Thoreau says most people are
living their lives in quiet desperation and at some point you have
to say to the quiet desperation, no and I am going to express myself
and I am going to bring forth the light. I am going to fulfill the
promise of the ages. It is in you and it is in me and it is in Palm
Sunday, it is in this holy week and it is not dependent on the
calendar how holy this week is depends on how holy you make it. How
holy this experience is for you this week depends on what you bring
to the experience. How much of a resurrection, how much of your life
in a new light, in a new good, in a new joy, how much behold ye are
Gods are you going to bring forth is going to depend on how much you
bring into the experience.
So daily this week look around you, claim the resurrection in your
life, claim yourself, design your life the way you want it to be. Go
to the first habit of the seven effective habits and say and I will
tell you what I want it to say on my tomb stone, I want it to say he
gave of himself unconditionally and held to the reality of boldness
having genius in it. For me there is only the full realization of
the I AM at the end of this life he held onto it, he worked his
life, he prayed his life, he marched his life, he walked his life,
he worked his life to reveal the glory of the I am that was within
him. And if he did that and it brings a blessing so be it and it is
the only life that I will commit myself to.
And I invite you on this palm Sunday to think about it in your life
because when you can say in your heart of hearts that the only thing
that is important to me is revealing the glory of my true self to
all the world that’s the way you can bring forth the new heaven and
the new earth and you won’t be doing it for just you because when
you do it you will be giving everybody else permission to do it for
themselves. You are so special and the fact that you have been led
here in this morning and this time, that fact that you know what you
know, if you only knew eyes have not seen nor ears have heard, nor
has entered into the heart of man the glory which God has as you.
And today is the statement be bold, walk it forth into the world,
stand by what you know is so because humanity is waiting to reveal
what we already know is the truth. There is one life, one God, one
love, one beauty, one grace, one joy, and it belongs to everyone and
when we all know it together we will experience it, we will be in
the experience of the kingdom in earth as it already is in heaven.
So on this Palm Sunday in this holy week I invite you to think on
these things and together let us explore the possibilities.
