“I AM And The Mobius Strip”

You have already received an insight into the
Mobius strip and it is a very interesting thing whether I use this
one or that one but the Mobius strip is really just a circle as you
can see. If you run your finger along what appears to be the outside
you would find that all of a sudden you are on the inside and you
never did anything and you’re on the inside and all of a sudden
you’re on the outside and you never did anything. So hence in a
mobius strip it would be inaccurate to say there is an inside and an
outside, there is only one thing here. So we want to look at this
and see how it is related to our lives and there are a couple of
things you may have heard me share along the way and I learned the
eleventh commandment from a dear friend and he said the eleventh
commandment is thou shalt lighten up. Now we also have a twelfth
commandment in new thought and new thought is people who believe in
one power, one life, one truth who are looking for new ideas to
express that life and new levels of love to express it and the other
commandment in new thought is where ever two or more are gathered,
there shall be food and you will notice that these all seem to work.
You will notice that today’s’ lesson is really purposed to look at
the eleventh commandment a little differently and say thou shalt
loosen up. So if you remember the metaphor of the Mobius strip and
everything that I am sharing this morning is going to be about the
idea that we very often have too tight a hold on our lives and by
means of that tight hold which usually gets tight because of our
fears and doubts we limit the opportunity for the creative abundance
of life for the infinite field of possibilities, for the infinite
love of God to enter in. And of course nobody limits their
possibilities deliberately and yet what we find is we have a
humanity that has been living in a consciousness of fear and
limitation and war and hate and prejudice and you all know what I am
talking about? We see constantly reflected back in our world old
consciousness related to fear, limitation, and war and enemy right?
In fact driving here this morning I heard on the radio an ad for the
navy and the ad says we have the greatest technology on earth in the
US navy and the only problem is that the enemy cannot see our
technology and I thought even government dollars are funding the
belief in other and enemy and separateness, in today’s world all the
time. We find that we are feed constantly these limiting ideas so of
course nobody deliberately wants to restrict the universe but
everyone is a human being and if you grew up in a humanity that
restricting the universe your libel to inherit some of that , is
that making sense? So I may have been born into the world innocent
but I received all ready the fears and doubts and negativities of my
environment. And then I grew up in a culture and I receive already
the fears and doubts and negativities of the culture and then I grow
up into a larger world and I see oh there is really a belief in
other, there is a belief in phobias of different kind and so much so
that we distinguish people by there race, their color, their creed,
their ways of being there preferences and in our religions we become
homo-sectarian, meaning that we believe our section, our sect is the
best one and that everyone needs to know about us, as opposed to a
wide open inclusive love. A wide open inclusive required that we
have to do forgiveness and I have been teaching forgiveness for
almost twenty years now as a professional and I even went to a
meeting of ministers and recently and the minister said oh yes Harry
does that forgiveness thing! And we look at the writings of Ernest
Holmes who was the writer of the book the Science of Mind and the
founder of the churches of religious science only because it needed
a time to emerge and were constantly told of the need to forgive.
Here is from Ernest Holmes he says whatever the mistakes of
yesterday may have been, today is a new creation, turning from the
errors of the past and no longer carrying with us the sorrows and
the mistakes of yesterday, today we may enter a new experience. But
it is only when we forgive everyone that we may feel certain that
the weight of condemnation is lifted from our own consciousness,
only when we forgive everyone. I was on the platform this week and
there was a screening of the movie the living luminaries a film that
I happened to be in with Michael Beckwith and it was held at his
church over in Culver City, the Agape Center and I said to the group
as Michael and I were teaching I said Michael did some very profound
forgiveness work in the group as he was teaching and brought his
consciousness into that experience for everybody and then Michael
looked at me and I said it is funny how we get into a teaching and
we get a bigger understanding of the way of life and the way of life
says that we must come from unconditional love. Now before we did
not have the word unconditional love, because love implies
unconditional but now we know there are so many different kinds of
love romantic love, secular love, withheld love there are all kinds
of different love and so we say there is unconditional love and the
only way to unconditional love is unconditional forgiveness and we
live with the words unconditional love and unconditional forgiveness
and sometimes when were on the conscious spiritual journey for
twenty years or more before one day our consciousness goes, oh you
know that unconditional thing, that means without conditions! You
mean I have to forgive everybody, yes, all the time yes and I return
to love all the time yes! Sooner or later we realize that is part of
a practice. I forgive the Navy for putting it out there that we are
creating enemies. I forgive the people who really believe that we
need to be in war with people to solve answers. I forgive and you
need to do it in your personal life, in your political life, in
every life there is opportunity to return to love all the time, to
return to love and what happens when we really begin to return to
love is miracle creation, harmonious creation begins to emerge and
we are able to have picnics and bring forth the blessing by having a
good time and it begins to shift as we open our consciousness to
really what it is to be unconditional. But that means we have to let
go of our limited ideas of ourselves. We have to let go of our
perceptions of who we are. I have made a mobius strip and anyone can
do this just twist the belt one way and put it together and you have
a mobius strip. In our teaching we have only one symbol that we can
really use for God. You very often see what people refer to as the
“V” and it is not really a V it’s a movement of spirit, the name of
that symbol is the decent of spirit into form. I have one and of
course you don’t see it and I use this all the time and it’s the
descent of spirit into form. I did a wedding one time and I use to
wear this on the outside and at the end of the wedding one person
leaned into the other and said why is the minister wearing a
Mercedes symbol? That form means the descent of spirit into form
meaning spirit takes form. We say we only have one symbol but you
see the descent is in a circle so the circle and all the elements
inside the circle, the only symbol that we could use for the
teaching of one God, one power is a circle. Now the reason that it
is only a symbol is because we could have outside the circle right?
And in God you cannot have outside the circle, there is only one, so
it is only a symbol and it has its value but its not really accurate
because there is only one thing, so in our mind go it is symbolizing
one and collapse it down and not see anything outside the one, just
allow the circle to get bigger and bigger. But in our lives in your
and my life what we find is that we live in a world of duality. In
the world of duality the one takes shape as looking like spirit and
form and our friend Walter Starcke the wonderful writer and author
and Joel Goldsmith who was a powerful metaphysician and a healer in
the early part of the last century and he also spoke of subjective
and objective reality. Let me give you for the sake of terms the
term subjective reality and the more you study metaphysics the more
you learn about the principals that we teach and the terms take on
additional meanings because we understand them at different levels,
but subjective reality simple means if we talk about our faith if
each one of us were to talk about our faith you cannot touch my
faith can you? You can not physically touch it and there is no place
where my faith is living, faith is in my being, it is in my
subjective reality meaning it is not objectified in the world
anywhere, is this making sense? So there are qualities in our
experience that are subjective qualities, they are not visible, but
they are very real and what we know then is we learn about the one
becoming the appearance of subjective and objective reality, the one
becomes the appearance of invisible and visible reality. So we are
born in the image and likeness of the one and then we come into form
and it looks like this. Now did the one really change or did it just
change its form. Now you may notice that sometimes in your life that
your objective reality seems to get a hold of you meaning see what
happens to my subjective self because I participated in my fears and
doubts and worries, all born from my objective life. In other words
I have “stuff” in the world, bills that come due and the tax man
sends letters and the doctor says something and my great uncle
passed away and in the objective side of life we feel that we have
no control, we have no power and in other moments in our lives
nothing will have changed in our objective reality but maybe a baby
is born in your family and there is a bran new little niece and all
of a sudden you just love your brother and never mind all the
trouble they created in the past and that moment with the new baby
your just so filled with love and although the objective reality
didn’t change your point of view of it changed and now your filled
with all of this subjective love and the beautiful baby and you see
the flowers that you didn’t notice and the blue sky for the first
time and now you are living more in your subjective reality and then
the guy cuts you off on the freeway and does one of those gestures
and you constrict down and you want to use your fingers back and you
come into your objective reality and all the time it is the one
expressing itself in its many different ways and shape and forms but
it never stopped being what it is, which is the one.
Now we go a step further and we say we are born in the image and
likeness of God, would that be this form, or that form, which would
be the image and likeness of God when we already know we are
constantly in motion changing between the subjective and objective
reality the moments of illumination we see the oneness and then
“ops” we fall back why because the mobius strip which has no inside
and no outside and no beginning and no end, you are not some thing
moving along the strip and you find yourself oh now I am an inside
person, now I am an outside person, no because you are not an object
in the strip at all, you are not an aspect of the strip at all, you
are a recreation of the whole. You are born in the image and
likeness of God so you are this and this and this and you are every
variation in between, you are the motion. So part of what happens to
our life and I take you all the way back to the beginning and I said
the real purpose of my describing the mobius strip and its activity
is so that we can loosen up on the way that we are perceiving
ourselves. Because when our objective reality gets a hold of us we
think oh my god I am this, I am this, and then all of a sudden
something happens and we feel the joy of life, and all of a sudden
we feel this and sometimes we feel both and sometimes it happens at
the same time. Sometimes the movement is so fast that we don’t even
know what happened. So I have had the blessing to know some of you
now for one year and ten months and to be part of your growth and
your part of my growth and the thing that I use to say when I first
got here was that I was going to teach you principal. I am going to
teach you everything that I know about principal and I am going to
offer all of my being to teach about principal but you’re not going
to be able to hear me unless you’re willing to fall in love with me.
Because if you’re not willing to fall in love with me then love will
not know itself and love cannot teach anything except love and love
has to be its self to be heard. So were afraid to fall in love
because if we fall in love, well how long is he going to stay and if
he is only going to be here for a month and then leave I’m not going
to stick my heart out and have it taken back. So we have fear about
falling in love so eventually until we get to a contract that says
no Dr. Harry is going to stay awhile, why the answer is because I
fell in love. The thing that I asked you to be willing to do, I did
it happened to me.
So yesterday one of our beloved members made her transition and she
was a women that sat in this section and she wore hats, a very
attractive African American woman but I had the opportunity to know
Chris and she took her spiritual journey seriously, so she spent
time with me privately and I got to know her personally and I also
knew her journey and sacred information that is in my consciousness
and so the son called and said she had passed away and I did what I
could as a coach and I said this is how you have to deal with these
issues that come up and I supported him and I knew in that moment of
grief and you get numb for awhile and you just sort of hold people
in their numbness until you can help them. So I did my job and when
I hung up the phone and I started crying and it hit me in my gut and
isn’t it funny that we think that emotion or tears are a bad thing
but you see that is the mobius strip doing the thing that it does
all at one moment and on one hand I know that she goes on with
eternal life and the next thing that we happen to have was a prayer
circle and with just the grace of the spirit itself people grab
hands and hold each other and support each other, its the high level
of love and consciousness when we call ourselves to put our whole
selves in and to watch it in each of us and in each other. It is a
spectacular beautiful thing and so at the same moment there is this
sadness and there is this openness and the objective side there is a
loss and on the subjective side there is a gain and it keeps moving
in me and just at that moment Dan came in and my eyes were watering
and I look at him and we are kind of macho sort of guys and yet what
we know is that there is a deep truth behind all and it is worth it
to love. It is worth it to fall open, it is worth it to step into
the grandness of what it is to really know God and to look into one
another’s eyes as we share insights and we see things together and
experience because that is really how we know that we are alive and
growing. It takes the willingness to know that I’m not some aspect
of one little side of the strip that if this happens and that
happens, so the strip is in constant motion and that is why you hear
the expression “I AM is the activity of God, I am is the action of
God. Now let’s feel the vibration now and we opened our hearts a
little bit because we do know it is worth it to love and the truth
always makes you feel good. Don’t you really know in your heart of
hearts it’s worth it to love, don’t you know that? We really do know
that it is worth it to love and so we know that and yet there is a
loss and yet were still alive and through these experiences we
really know that we are alive and everybody touch themselves and say
I AM, we totally know that we are alive and in that aliveness so
much of life will come to us but not when we hold ourselves oh I am
this person stuck in my story. Oh no you are not your the mobius
strip and you can be all things if you will allow the motion of the
I am that I am to move you and trust in that motion and the
subjective side will always be objectified and what’s not important
is what is happening on the objective side, what is important is
what am I doing on the subjective side. Am I seeing what I am doing
with my vibrations, and you were telling everybody it was safe to
fall in love and even when there is an appearance of loss in that
love I still feel so grateful for the love. My wife did ministry for
ten years with me in San Diego and she is now thank God doing
ministry in another form which allows me to continue to do ministry
in this form and she said where are you going and I said I had
something to do with the church and I said we are going to paint and
she said oh your doing that again. Meaning she has watched me give
and give and I said no this is different, this is not the same
thing. Because here we are doing it in a “yes”, and I am taking a
chance I’m going to be willing to love. What if I really am a
spiritual being, what if its really true that If I give a portion of
myself back and it comes back to me multiplied but I have to really
give the portion of myself. Not in terms of how much I give but how
genuine the spirit of my giving is. According to the genuineness of
my wanting to give and I told my wife that I was actually looking
forward to the painting because there is all this big yes and I am
coming to jump into the “yes” and it was spectacular and to watch
how we care and how we pray and how we support each other and how we
call ourselves back to the high watch. People will say that man that
is spiritual work but we have to heal all this race belief and all
of this separation consciousness that we emerge in and surround us
so yes it is the work of clearing the way, all of the clutter that
is unlike god. All of the clutter that is unlike the I am that I am.
It is letting go of the idea that I am just stuck in this place of
the strip and you are not stuck in a place in the strip, you are the
strip. The strip is constantly moving, put your attention back on
what you are, put yourself back on the I am that I am and declare
and affirm and invite into your life the presence of the love that
you seek, invite into your life and I recommend and nothing against
stuff, I’m all for stuff because Ernest Holmes and I agree with him
and he says you can have anything that you want in this lifetime,
you can’t keep any of it, but you can have anything that you want.
In the physical world it comes to pass because your not just the
objective side of the mobius strip, you are the mobius strip and at
some point you will leave the objective side and you will be on the
subjective side until you re-embody somewhere else at some higher
level. I hope that my ancestors are vibrating at a higher level and
I am doing everything that I can at this level to help them at that
level and I trust at the level they are doing everything that they
can to help me at this level because it is all the one thing. It is
all the one thing and so we have work to do in the world, spiritual
work yes because your consciousness knows you’re a spiritual being.
Your consciousness knows that your a spiritual being but if your a
spiritual being and born in the image and likeness of God, you are
pure love, pure joy, pure wisdom, pure harmony, pure melody, pure
passion, pure beauty, pure laughter, pure name all the infinite
qualities of God and you are that, how are you doing with it? Most
of us fall into our objective selves and go boy I have some problems
in my objective world, but that’s all there so you can remember who
you are. So that you can come back to the subjective reality of
yourself and know that I am one with the one and I’m going to call
forth in my one, what I will be today. Today I will be innocent in
my perception, today I will focus on gratitude, today I will focus
on love, today I will focus on service, today I will open myself up
to receive in a greater way than I have ever received before and
notice that I did not mention any stuff. Because if I’m one with God
and my intention is to be in the joy of God, the love of God, the
beauty of God I’m going to do that prayer work yes, but it is going
to be about being here God my highest self, the highest aspect of my
own being, help me to be what I really am. Help me to realize that I
am the whole strip and not just some part of it. Help me to realize
this objective part of my world is only one aspect of myself and if
I choose to focus more on the love and the beauty and the peace what
it is to truly serve then this will become bigger and all of my
world will begin to reflect back and I can live in balance for
eternity and that’s the truth of who we are. You are the activity of
God so its motion will continue but you can reflect balance over and
over again in every circumstance, in every place until at one point
in your life you will awaken to the full realization of your oneness
with the one. And when you do that will be ecstasy, that will be
nirvana, that will be heaven, that will be illumination, that will
be awakening and before that awakening, we chop wood and carry water
and after that awakening, we chop wood and carry water. But I can do
it awake in the love of God, in the awareness of my true and eternal
nature, as I participate in all the comings and goings of life and
say yes isn’t it love and isn’t it magnificent.
So my friends I invite you to think on this one thing throughout
this week, isn’t love grand and I invite you to think on these
things and together let us explore the possibilities.
