“THE ECSTATIC LIFE”

I got the good book out today and in our teaching the good book is the experience of your life that when your life starts showing up working the way you dream it, working the way that you would like it to be flowing from deeper love to greater love to joy to more joy from inspiration deeper inspiration then you know you're on the right path. Other than that it’s all the authority outside of yourself and don’t really count. Which I know is hard for people because we thought for so long the authority was in a book but this particular authority is in the book called the American Heritage Dictionary and I thought that we would look up the word ecstatic so that we could know what were talking about when we talk about the ecstatic life. I was speaking to a friend of mine who is actually the editor of my book It’s So Easy when you know how and I was asking about his life, I said give me the American Heritage version he said what is the American Heritage version I said that’s the one that won’t take twenty five minutes

Ecstasy a state of intense joy or delight, a state of emotion so intense that one is carried beyond rational thought and self control. Synonyms rapture, transport, exestuation, euphoria, bliss the ecstatic life relating to ecstasy. So the deepest revel of what we really talk about ecstasy is really a reference to a spiritual state, to a state of awareness of your divine self. The poem that Jean shared this morning from Ramie talks about this idea of a shell cracking. An oyster cracks and what looks like an irritation is the sand and it becomes the pearl. Most of our lives are about moving from those apparent irritations and stepping into the understanding of who we are.

I get a lot of different information in that I have been doing this work for a long time and people add me to their E-mail list and I get a lot of information and I sort of sort through it to see what I can find the philosopher and teacher Ernest Holmes who wrote the book the Science of Mind, Ernest Holmes talks about the highest facility within man, the highest facility within the human being and the highest facility within the human being is intuition which is really the voice of God speaking and if we look back into the ancient scriptures even before the Old Testament and the New Testament we find in the Upanishads which birthed forward the Hindu traditions they talk about the self, meaning the capitol S self, your highest self the true nature of yourself shall lead the self. The self shall lead the self so your highest self shall lead the smaller version of yourself to the self, so the self will lead the small self to the self by the self. The self will lead the self to the self by the self and what we really begin to see is what’s happening in our time is we are beginning to concur that truth is not something that we find outside of ourselves, truth is not something that is announced by a great teacher or a great author, truth is and I get a kick my friend Mary Tumpkin who is the president of the Universal Foundation for Better Living, she is also new thoughts probably most credentialed theologian in terms of the New Testament and she says isn’t it funny she has a church in Miami and isn’t it funny how people will come to listen to a few lectures in a new thought center like this one and then they will write a book about it and then they come back to us and sell it to us, and we give them all kinds of authority. When in reality it is only that which yourself ultimately concurs with? Something within you that says yes this is so that will actually be the truth that will take you to yet a higher truth. You begin to hear the voice of yourself affirming, agreeing, going along with truth that you may hear you say this resonates as truth for me and when you start listening to yourself and really following it. How many of you had in your experience one of those things where you did something yourself, yourself told you to do something then you did something else and it didn’t work and the first thing that you went is God I knew that. We have all had that happen yes? We have all had that happen and so our journey is a million different lessons in that one truth to learn to listen to discern which is a spiritual facility to learn to discern that voice of myself, that authentic self that is always guiding me the right way That is always taking me a little bit further into myself and what will happen when we really do that all the time is we will be living the Ecstatic life.

You will find that your need for suffering and despair will have disappeared. Now that does not mean that other people all around you they may still be suffering in despair because have you ever noticed that somebody that wants to choose to be angry and upset is going to be angry and upset no matter what you do.

Yesterday my son is in college and my wife is in real estate and she received a nice bed set that she had been given which my son needs. So my wife said yes and we will accept the bed set and we have access to a trailer so I went down to San Diego to get this trailer that my friend has so we could move this bed this afternoon We stopped by and on the way home we are pulling this trailer we stopped by a deli to get some breakfast and there was a motorcycle parked in the lot and I was trying to pull the truck over to the side so it wouldn’t be in anybodies way and I got very close to this motorcycle. I saw it and did not hit it and as a matter of fact I said to Drenda you had better get out and make sure we don’t hit that motorcycle because I could see it in the mirror and just then the owner of the motorcycle came out and he said “Oh my God what are you doing that’s my motorcycle” We said we are just parking here and he said well what are you doing parking here? We are going in and get some breakfast well he just went on and on and literally there was six inches between the fender of the trailer and his motorcycle, it was just parked there and all that had to happen was the motorcycle could back up six inches and there would be no problem right. Well this guy just wanted to be mad, nothing had touched his motorcycle, and nothing was disturbing anything but he absolutely wanted to be mad. Have you ever noticed that when somebody wants to get mad that sometimes that pulls the mad out of you? You see I am very spiritual so when people get mad at me I don’t get man, haw haw. I noticed that reaction in myself and this guy and I almost wanted to say you know somebody with your kind of rage really shouldn’t be riding motorcycles, it isn’t safe. So the bottom line is my wife is a trained metaphysician she is an ordained minister and she worked very gently with him and no matter what he did or said and so my line back to him I felt the anger would come back at me, I said sir I really trust you have a great day and literally if you would just back the motorcycle up five inches we will all be liberated Because there was no way to make him feel right.

So bear in mind when you rise up in consciousness and your consciousness changes it does not mean that the world around you will necessarily go with your change. People have a right to make themselves miserable, just as they have the right to make themselves happy. They have the right to lift themselves up into a higher state of being. There was nothing that happened in my wife and I that wished any ill upon his soul at all except that I hoped that he feels better as his day goes on In fact that was the last thing my wife said to him I trust your day goes better, he said it will as long as I don’t see you again. In which case he was guaranteed to have a great day. The point is that what we hear the master teacher Jesus say is these things do not move me. You hear it in many of the references where we rise up in consciousness and the world continues to do what it does but it doesn’t throw us off center, it doesn’t cause us to loose the sweetness of our own existence. And what I know in all of this work that I have been doing, in all of this discerning work that I continue to do is that no matter how challenging our life has been and some of us have had some challenges along the way and that is part of what we came for. We came and you see in the dedication to the book the Science of Mind it says these lessons are dedicated to that truth which frees man from himself and enables him to see through the mist into the eternal and changeless reality. Frees man from himself that the husk that were talking about that’s that outer shells that since of identification that we continue to fight for and yet is the release of that into the self. It is the release of the small self into the high self that will move us into the ecstatic life. That will move us to the place where we are so imbued in spirit but you know we are still living here on this plane where we are in this field of polarity and the field of polarity is male, female, black, white, dark, light, hot, cold, happy, unhappy and you are all familiar with all those polarities. They go on all around us and yet the field of polarities exists within the context of unity so we don’t have to have our lives filled with all this struggle and strife, but it will require that we rise up out of the field of polarity into a higher space.

So let us review quickly we just finished our Easter in September now here is the best medicine for any of our members who come from any heritage. Most of us here come from the Judaea Christian heritage, most of us are in the pathway of living the fulfillment of law and love right and what we find symbolically is Moses brought forth the law, what we find symbolically is Jesus brought forth the love and neither is correct they are both correct because it is love and law together that create the perfect opportunity in life. There is a mechanical aspect of our lives, its automatic its done unto us which is this law of reciprocal action or for those who are going to the secret it has been calling it the law of attraction, in other words as I vibrate that’s what I will attract. As I give that’s what I will get, what I put out will come about, what I think about comes about and we begin to see this automatic law that responds by corresponding to us. Then there is a higher, not a higher in terms of better but a higher vibration that we can bring into that automatic law and that higher vibration is the presence of inspiration or the enfoldment of your true self, the enfoldment of your Christ nature, your Buddha nature, your Atman nature, your Nashama nature, it goes by many different names and it is ultimately the high self. And what we find in our journey up in our rising up from this field of polarities, anybody have some polarities in their lives? We have this polarity and we’ve come into this field so we can see through the mist, so that we can free ourselves from ourselves, the belief in the separation, the belief in this polarity and step into the reality of the ecstatic life. Of going from greater good to greater good.

It was very interesting for me this week because generally speaking by the time I finish a talk on an opportunity to share with you in a context which I consider holy and sacred I’m already working on what will come forth the following week and so I was fully aware of this ecstatic life deal and sometimes I have to say back to my high self, what were you talking about when you wrote down ecstatic life? All through the week I will meditate and pray on those ideas and on Wednesday morning this week I fell into an ecstasy, I fell so in love with the fact that I have had this life to date that I have lived the life that I have lived, that I have met who I met, that I have loved who I loved, that I have known who I have known, I fell into love with the life that I have lived. And it set me into a state of bliss that I was able to maintain until somebody else in my house woke up, progress not perfection right? But the interesting thing is in the field of polarities when we go into that much bliss and it goes away we tend to feel empty, we tend to feel oh I lost something or something went away and so what we are really doing is rising up. Every time we get a thought that takes us higher or a state of consciousness that takes us higher than we were we can then pull the rest of ourselves up to that place and we have to realize that nothing is missing, we are just going through the field of polarity as we are spiraling upward. But you find that a lot of times we struggle for that which we left behind.

How many people when they first came into the teaching we talk about princess, palaces and parking places so there is a law that will respond by corresponding, there is a power for life a love in the universe greater than you are and you can use it. You can use it by your thoughts and attitudes by everything you think say and do and so you use that power and say I want greater health, so we get greater health Then we say I want greater love and so we attract that relationship that we really been wanting and they don’t behave the way we want them to anymore and then we say perfect health, perfect wealth, perfect love and then we say I want perfect abundance to come into my life and we get a new job a new opportunity we get a new car we get all this stuff going on and now you continue on the journey and its not working the way it was before. Well why that becomes the question why? The answer is because getting all of those things in the physical level is part of your spiritual growth as the master teacher said it this way it is the fathers mothers good pleasure to give you the kingdom. There is nothing wrong with having abundance. If you use a lot of the universe and the universe is infinite and you use a lot of the infinite, how much is left? So you have not diminished anything by creating your good you understand, you’ve not diminished, you have not robbed from anybody because there is an infinite sea of potential, an infinite sea of possibility and you can create from that anything you want, but what you came here to do was to recognize who and what you truly are. What I came here to do and I am talking about here in this lifetime in this body, what I have come here to do is to recognize to understand and to embody all that I really am. And that’s why once we get the material thing in order the universe says ok you have fooled enough with that and we are going up higher now. We are going to a higher level and now we see if I manifest the car or the thing and I have no love it’s like it doesn’t mean anything. It’s all of a sudden not just the objects but the vibrations and the emotions and the feeling nature that’s around whatever the objects are. If you manifest a new home and your home has no love in it, the home will give you no satisfaction right? It might be brand new and give you no satisfaction; it’s the love that’s in the home that becomes. All of a sudden our priorities shift literally because we have entered into the spiritual life; we have entered into the enfolding awakening of whom and what we really are. And so here’s where we struggle and here’s where this word ego comes into the picture And there is a lot of pop psychology going on about ego and it has been going on since about the ninety ninnies and we created a new devil and it was called the ego? Everything is fine except for my big nasty ego which keeps getting in my way, well the truth is that your ego, you can’t do open ego surgery. There is no place to open yourself up and find the ego because the ego is really just a concept and it is the concept that you have about yourself. So for example if we then come into the teaching that says all are one and we realize there is one power and that power is the perfect life of God and that power is my life then my concept of myself is changed do you see that? That’s a radical shift from I’m a worm and I belong to the cosmos at some level and I may day unfold out of my worm nature into my caterpillar nature which might one day become a butterfly nature right, that’s a long journey. So instead we begin to realize I am one with the one and now were afraid as we rise up, as we go to a higher level were afraid of one of two things, usually metaphorically metaphorically the first one is I’m going to become Moses and wander the desert forever and never get there, no promise land for me and the other one is or I’m going to become Christ like, I am going to receive the light fully and totally and then when I do somebody is going to kill me. So what it basically means is I love the spiritual stuff but I like it a lot more when I am getting cars and parking places and things I want. When it becomes I’m going to actually rise up and know myself as I really am then we don’t want to surrender my smaller self because we are afraid were going to get lost. We are afraid were going to get lost, were afraid were going to get left in the desert alone or we afraid were going to become so enlightened we are going to leave all the people we love behind. And at that level we hold ourselves stuck. And at that level we find ourselves in a never ending quest doesn’t somebody have a magic pill that will cause me to get more enlightened faster, easier right and what we realize is it doesn’t work that way. See this is the thing we don’t tell you because if we did tell you you would never sign up for it.

So I will put it another way so I got into ministry the way most people do I started the first year as a student and I learned more and more principal, I was in the hospital I got healed, I learned more and more principal and I learned how to help myself do better, I started to do better I attracted a beautiful woman, I attracted a house I had two cars, I had a mortgage, I had two kids, I was doing just great and then Moses went out to the mountain and fell one hundred and twenty feet, I fell down the mountain and all of a sudden I had to do it all over again. I had to use the healing principals to heal myself to recover my body, to restore myself, to restore my career to do all the things all over again and then gulp it all up and you get a ministry going and I had a big ministry going and started a big organization and it was growing great guns and then what happens you see we will continue the same pattern until we face the fear that were going to go too high and become Moses in the desert and Jesus on the cross. And that fear will hold us stuck, over and over again and no matter how much pain you have had, no matter how challenging your life has been to get to that edge you will get through it, you're guaranteed to get through it because who you are is what God is and God loves you just exactly the same amount as he has loved any other Saint, Sage Mystic and Prophet from all time. You are the beloved of the most high in whom God is well pleased and what is happening is you are the ones holding yourselves stuck because you have not made the choice yet. And I say you meaning you and me both have not made the choice yet to step into the ecstatic life. And when we do that all of a sudden we will find whatever my idea of myself was it doesn’t really matter because I will step out of the idea of myself and I will discover God idea of me. And God’s idea of me is so much greater than any idea you’ve yet had of yourself that your imagination cannot even comprehend it. It is that powerful and the one moment of seeing and hearing and knowing who you really are will have made all the suffering as nothing. You will instantaneously forget it; you will not even remember how hard it was.

For those of you who have ever been hiking or if you hick and hick to get to the vista and you finally get to that vista sure you huff and puff for the first ten or fifteen minutes and after that all you can do is look at the vista and you don’t even remember how hard it was to get there. Except some sense of you says God that was a rugged climb but you forget all about how rugged the climb was and all you can see is the glory that’s in front of you. Well that’s what it is for you and me so if we look at our journey through this Easter experience and you can transpose the Easter experience into any language you like, in any tradition you like because what we find is across all the traditions is the same principal and the principal is if you will be lifted up, if you will lift yourself up to the highest aspect of yourself, everything will be drawn unto you. And you will find that even this idea of who you are is no longer important because you will have let go of who you thought you were and you will have come into what you really are as a child of God. As the beloved of God you see the reality is God only has one child, God has only one child and because God only has one child God loves that child perfectly. Everybody touch themselves and say I AM that’s the child. That’s the child of God the begotten of God is the I AM that I AM, it’s the I AM that Moses announced, it’s the I AM that Buddha announced, its the I AM that Jesus announced, its the I AM that Mother Theresa announced, its the I AM that Martin Luther King announced, its the same I AM through out all history and its totally beloved of God and that’s where we step into and why do I need to be Harry if I am the beloved? Why do I need to struggle for Harry if I am the beloved? And you put that in the first person why do you need to struggle for yourself if what you already are is the beloved and the moment the rapture hits you, the moment you see things as they actually are all of your suffering will be as not. It will be wow, I sure made that rugged on myself and you discover you didn’t need to because all you had to do is give it over to God, give it over to God, give it over to God, until you realize the God you're giving it over to is what you are, and then you don’t struggle All of a sudden the answer to the question would it be alright if my life got easier, my life is easier because everything I take onto myself I give back to God and you discover what God was doing for you was all that you couldn’t do yourself. And there is no difference; there is nothing to cling onto only the rising up into the ecstatic life, only the rising up. So anybody interested in rising up?

So if were going to rise up then what we want to do and it is going to happen in an instant It’s going to happen and probably happen in an instant that we didn’t even know it happened. There are the stories, there are the cases of conscious illumination which we know about but most often one rises up through transformation, one rises up because their thoughts and attitudes have shifted in such a way that one day they realize wow all those things I use to struggle for I don’t struggle for and I still have them. All the goals and dreams I was seeking to attain I’m attainting them but I let go of the struggle and we don’t even know where we let go of the struggle. So where in there we gave it up, we gave it over, we gave it over, we gave it over, somewhere in there that which goes in front of us has received what we have given over and its precipitating is bringing for us before we even knew we needed it exactly what we need. And then we begin to notice its always there and once we begin to notice its always there we can join Rickie Byers and say “no more struggle, no more strife”, we can let go, we can release and let God and that’s what the journey is all about. Its taking all of our awareness and then saying ok I’m letting it go and what we find in our learning affirmative prayer is the process the place where it takes place is where we release, we let it go. We release we let it go and we bring our thanks to that which is so, we release we let go and we give thanks to that which is so. Now all of a sudden we say we are matching the teachings of Moses and Moses said to do that, oh the Buddhists said to do that, oh look Jesus said to do that, all of the saints, sages and prophets they all said that. Act in faith believing release and let it go and it will show up. But we want to fight don’t I have to struggle here to get to the place where I can release and let go and the answer is yes as long as you believe you have to struggle like that, you have to struggle like that and the moment you're willing to let it go something greater will happen to you, something greater will happen And I don’t know if you're like me something greater will happen and then you go God that was so great thank you god that was so marvelous oh good here is something I can struggle with over here. That’s ok but if you can rise up enough to see that you're doing it oh look I’ve actually become addicted to my life of troubles and as a matter of fact I became so addicted to my life of troubles I created to god to respond to my problems and that’s how I know God is there because I have a problem and God responds. So as soon as God responds in order to keep God what do we do, create another problem, which would not be the ecstatic life that would be called the problematic life. It’s better to have a problematic life with God than a problematic life without God but what I’m suggesting is how about the ecstatic life.

How about you're so deep in the joy and the love of who you are and what you are and what God has given you and what you're experiencing and who’s in your life and what’s happening that all you do is go from one ecstasy to the next. From one sense of I’m, loved and I’m being loved and I’m being understood in ways never before and it’s happening clearer to me day by day. It’s happening in my work life, It’s happening in my home life, It’s happening in my community life, Its happening in every aspect of my life. Have you noticed that sometimes you walk into a room and people smile just because its you, that’s the beginning of the ecstatic life? You don’t have to do anything, you just let, you just let. The more you release the more you release and let go and let God sooner or later and pretty soon we no longer have to go through our list. There is nothing wrong with going through our list.

When I was in San Diego where I lived for fifteen years I lived a few minutes from the beach I use to go out almost everyday and I would walk the beach for an hour and one half and I would wave my hands and I would be talking and people must have been looking at the nut walking down the beach and I would be talking to God and I would be telling God I want to work on my health, and I want to work on love and perfect expression and perfect joy and I kept telling God what I want and now I go to the beach and I go to do that list and I say hey God I love you! Now it is the same it is communing with God you see it is exactly the same its communing with God but after awhile I don’t need to give God my problem list anymore because I already know God knows and as soon as I go to where the problem is I disallow God to be there, I give it up, I give it up. Oh God that scares me.

There is a great line out of the Course in Miracles and I love this line the line in the Course of Miracles is oh son and daughter of God, oh son and daughter of God if you only knew who walks with you this day you would never feel afraid again. Oh son and daughter of God if you only knew who walks with you in this day you would never be afraid again and isn’t that the core, isn’t that the core thing is that underneath the problem is the fear of the problem and what were walking around with is masking our fear and what I say is really to give everything to God. You will not be Elisha swallowed up in the light, you will not be Moses left in the promise land and there isn’t any reason to be crucified it’s already been done; you don’t need to do that. There is no need for more martyrs for God there is only the need of the experience of God and the experience of God is coming to you because you are the beloved of the most high and when you open yourself, when you really surrender, when you really say God who responds by corresponding, I give you myself for you have given my myself you will rise up and the door to the ecstatic life will be open and imagine yourself living from one good to the next good, from one love to the next love.

I will just close with this little story when I fell off the mountain in Griffith Park I fell one hundred and twenty feet that’s what the paramedics wrote down, one hundred and twenty feet and I had apparently for about eighteen minutes or so I wasn’t home fortunately my wife who was with my body which was damaged at the bottom of the hill didn’t know that I wasn’t there and I had this extraordinary experience in God and in the experience I kept saying to God over and over and how do I know it was God because I was praying when I was climbing up the mountain and trust me when I started to fall down the mountain I was praying. A lot of us use the expression “oh my God, no “”I’m talking oh my God” and in the next moment I was with my God in this very beautiful space traveling and I kept saying to God, this is so beautiful, this is so beautiful and God kept saying back to me yes, and I said this is so nice and God said back this is so nice, this is wonderful and God said back yes, this is wonderful and then I though I was dreaming and so I said ok I’m going to wake up now and I struggled to wake up and that happened three different times and the third time I struggled with all my being to wake up. I said “ok” this is wonderful the voice said yes, this is wonderful I said ok I’m going to wake up now and I struggled with all my being to wake up and I realized I couldn’t wake up and I said back to God I can’t wake up and God said no you can’t wake up and I said if I can’t wake up I must not be dreaming and God said no you're not dreaming and I said oh then where am I and at that moment I traveled backwards, literally backwards, very far very fast and I woke up at the bottom of the mountain. I was aware of my dog and I was aware of my wife and I was aware of the baby and I was aware of the baby that was in my wife’s womb, I was aware of all of it in that one moment. See I said I want to wake up and I woke up here, I said to God I want to wake up and I woke up here. You and I are in our bodies saying to God I want to wake up and were here the opportunity to wake up is not in the hereafter its in the here and now. Its not in some distant body its in the body you're in now so the opportunity to move into ecstasy to fall into the ecstasy of your own life is right here and right now and nothing and no one can withhold it from you except you. So if you want the ecstatic life call forth your own awakening, call for it dearly, call for it daily and you want to know how easy it is, its as simple as this touch yourself and say I AM, I AM awake and here’s the possibility for the ecstatic life. My friends it is my honor and privilege to speak with you this morning and I invite you to think on these things and explore the possibilities
